About us
Our vision is to create a world where communication resources are standardised, diverse and accessible, to reduce the support gap to lower income families and to advocate for accessible work places. Discover SEN is about helping schools and therapists reduce their workload by creating easy to use resources and giving families the opportunity to learn and grow when an educational need, disability or disorder can feel overwhelming. By working with us you can be assured that we give back to the community with assisted sales to provide support for families below the poverty line.

Today is #worldmentalhealthday. As someone who has battled with their mental health for years, I am a big advocate for remembering that it's okay to not be okay. Acknowledging that you are struggling is the first step to getting the help you need. The stigma around mental health problems is still very prevalent and we can work together to fight this. No one should be fighting alone. If you have the time, take a minute today to check in with your friends and family. It is not just about 'How are you?' but also about your struggles and achievements, and really connect. If you need support, here are some free listening services; Call 116 123 to talk to Samaritans, or email: jo@samaritans.org for a reply within 24 hours Text "SHOUT" to 85258 to contact the Shout Crisis Text Line, or text "YM" if you're under 19 If you're under 19, you can also call 0800 1111 to talk to Childline. The number will not appear on your phone bill. If you or someone around you is in crisis and needs immediate help, call 999. A mental health emergency should be taken as seriously as a physical one. You will not be wasting anyone's time.

New YouTube video released... lets talk about the use of sign with SEND children! I am looking at this conversation from the perspective of someone who works with SEND children and often sees the use of sign. I am not a member of the D/deaf community, and I remind viewers in the video that D/deaf people are the best to learn from in this regard. Over the years, there has been controversy between the Makaton and BSL communities due to public mistakes that highlighted the difference in the different signs. Both the Makaton Charity and the Royal Association for the Deaf have made steps towards collaborating on public understanding. Watch the video and let us know what you think! https://lnkd.in/e5g9sdqu

Discover Assistance Our upcoming conference is raising money for the Discover Assistance Fund; learn more about what it is in this post! We aim to support all families regardless of their financial position. We are able to offer subsidised training, consultancy, and resources to families who need them. The assistance fund is available to families from a wide variety of backgrounds and financial situations. We understand how expensive it can be to have a child with additional needs and disabilities. We hope the assistance fund ensures that everyone will be able to access the resources they need.

Jo is one of my academic / neurodivergent idols so I am very excited to have her presenting at the conference!
I'm one of a great many presenters at the Discover Inclusion Access to Academic Learning Conference (I think I worked it out as less than 50p per presentation, with a single ticket costing £9.50 - there are also whole school tickets available) https://lnkd.in/ehHhBd2E I love my little bingo board so I can check who I've seen, it gives you a sense of what will be in there too. Take a look at Kerry Thalia AuDHD SEN Resource Creator's output about the event to find out more about the other presentations.

I think this will be one of the presentations covering an area that is new to a lot of people!
