One of our specialist Advanced Engineering areas of work is within #Structural #Integrity, Fitness for Service Assessments (#FFSA) Engineering Criticality Assessments (#ECA), and Design by Analysis or #DBA to #Div2 and #Div3 etc. For this recent project, our offshore client had sever sand erosion at a #Girth Weld on a #flowline which was under #HP service. Our scope was to work with the client and determine if it was possible to get to the next turnaround before the #erosion became too severe. For this situation - we employed #ANSYS Mechanical, and completed both linear and non-linear #FEA, following the methods within #API579 and #ASMEVIII #Div 2 ( #DBA). Areas we were concerned about - weld mis-match, #HAZ and parent #properties, #embrittlement mechanics, global and local #collapse, #fatigue and #fracture, #erosion and erosion #rates, #MDMT and more.
