Today marks #WorldHomelessDay and #WorldMentalHealthDay. Our Together Through Homelessness scheme supports dog owners experiencing or at risk of homelessness with free vet care and advice on accessing dog-friendly temporary or emergency accommodation 💛 Through our endorsement scheme, we also work with homelessness services across the UK to support them to become dog-friendly so people and their pets can stay together. Becoming dog-friendly is important for homelessness services taking a trauma-informed, person-centred approach. Our Freedom team is hiring 📣 If dog owners plan to find safety from domestic abuse but are unable to take their dog with them, Freedom provides a temporary home for their dog with a loving foster carer until their owners are safe, settled and ready to have them back 💛 We are looking for a Freedom Volunteer Coordinator (35 hours a week) to recruit volunteer foster carers at virtual events and in the community and to then support volunteers in their role. Come and see us at the British Veterinary Nursing Association Congress from 11th-13th October! 👋 Our Dog Friendly Clinics team will be on hand to chat more about the scheme and you’ll have the chance to take part in a fun ‘escape room’ activity to help unlock a trapped toy dog from a cage by applying Dog Friendly Clinic principles within a veterinary environment. Breaking Rabies Boundaries with Butternut Box this World Rabies Day! 🐾 As we approach World Rabies Day on 28 September, we are thrilled to announce our partnership with fresh dog food company Butternut Box | B Corp to support our global efforts in improving the lives of dogs everywhere 🌍🐕 Together, we share a vision where every dog is safe, happy, and healthy. Many of us have seen roaming dogs on our travels—some with owners, some without—living vastly different lives than our furry friends at home. Unfortunately, overpopulation and disease, such as rabies, are major challenges for these dogs, particularly in countries like Thailand. The Chonburi Project 🇹🇭 With Butternut Box’s support, the Dogs Trust Worldwide team are able to fund a Catch, Neuter, Vaccinate, and Return (CNVR) programme in Chonburi, Thailand, delivered by the amazing team at Soi Dog Foundation. This initiative will help neuter and vaccinate 40,000 dogs over two years, reducing overpopulation and preventing the spread of diseases like rabies—a disease that tragically takes thousands of lives each year. Together, we are breaking rabies boundaries by showing our commitment to creating positive, sustainable change for dogs in regions where they need it most, and this partnership with Butternut Box is a step toward a future where all dogs can live happy, healthy lives.
