🐾 Celebrating a decade of impact for dogs across the UK! Thanks to the incredible players of People's Postcode Lottery, who have raised over £24 million for Dogs Trust in the past 10 years. This support has enabled us to find forever homes for 105,000 dogs, build and improve rehoming centres, and provide essential support to dog owners across the UK. We were delighted to host People’s Postcode Lottery at our Glasgow Rehoming Centre last week, so we could celebrate our achievements together, and to introduce them to our staff who are dedicated to looking after dogs and do everything they can to find them a forever postcode in a home of their own. Watch our video to see how this funding has transformed lives and join us in celebrating a decade of dedication to dog welfare 🎥🐕 We’d love to hear your stories—share how dogs have made a difference in your life in the comments below!

📣 The results of the UK’s largest dog census, The National Dog Survey, are in! More than 400,000 dog lovers and owners filled in the survey, sharing insights on over 430,000 dogs 🐶 Here’s what we found: - Most popular dog names loved by the nation are Poppy and Teddy. - The nation still loves a crossbreed but when it comes to specific breeds, we simply labr-adore Labradors, with the breed remaining the number one choice for dog lovers! - Cocker Spaniels and Border Collies took 2nd and 3rd spot. - 95% of people said that owning a dog was good for their mental health. Take a look here for more 👉 https://bit.ly/4dNDDXN Just like previous National Dog Surveys, the results are used to help us shape our services to help dog owners across the UK 💛

Finally! The new Pet Abduction Act comes into force today meaning anyone found guilty of stealing a dog in England or Northern Ireland will face up to five years in prison, a fine, or both 🙌 As members of the family, we know that having your beloved pet stolen is an extremely stressful, heart-breaking experience. But until now having your pet stolen has been treated no differently to mobile phone or laptop theft. Under the new law, dogs and cats are no longer seen as objects but as sentient beings who can experience emotional trauma when they are stolen from their owners 💛 Read our information on preventing pet theft and what to do if the worst does happen and your dog is stolen 👉 https://bit.ly/3Au5RbT

🐾 Exciting News: Promoting Pet Friendly Housing in Edinburgh! 🏠 We're thrilled to be leading a new initiative in Edinburgh designed to support pet owning social housing tenants. We are working with Manor Estates Housing Association on an exciting pilot, which is possible thanks to funds raised by players of People's Postcode Lottery . The aim is to improve the experience for tenants with pets, or those hoping to welcome a new furry friend into their homes. Over the coming months, Dogs Trust will work closely with Manor Estates to review and enhance their pet policies, paving the way for a Pet Friendly Housing Toolkit that can be adopted by other social landlords. We’re aware that issues with housing is one of the reasons that people sadly need to handover their dogs to be rehomed. This includes people being forced to move or downsize as rental prices increase, but are unable to find suitable, affordable pet friendly properties.  Through this initiative, we’re striving to remove barriers and showcase the benefits of pet friendly policies for everyone. We’re proud to be working with Manor Estates and People’s Postcode Lottery towards a future where more homes are pet friendly. Find out more about what we’ve been able to achieve thanks to our relationship with Postcode Lottery here: https://bit.ly/3T35yep 🐶
