The panelised Off-site construction of this project enabled high speed construction on site which was critical on the live school environment. Since we last published a concept sketch of this scheme, we have been working on it in 3D to better understand how the design responds to the site geometry, orientation, and brief. Our objective is to create a scheme that meets the needs of the area and contextually & materially responds to the adjacent BUILT environment whilst providing a pleasant LIVING environment. #housing #design #brick

From large-scale construction to domestic renovations, we use BIM in all of our projects. As Architects a part of our role is surveying existing buildings looking for the potential within and sometimes, we find some unexpected and interesting items. We’ve put together some of our recent interesting discoveries including a plant growing out of a houseowners cold water tank, a staircase so full of pigeon guano that the steps cannot be seen and a rat that went for too long of a sleep on some heating pipes. We’ve recently been working on a proposal that demonstrates how terraced housing can be both interesting & functional while at the same time subtly reduce the massing of this social housing development. Rather than a continuous elevation, the terraces are divided in the middle of the broad gables, and where the first-floor white brick "annexes" meet, providing access to the rear gardens below. This allows the red brick projections to be perceived as one dwelling, masking the reality that there are twice as many dwellings as one might expect. #Concept #Design #Socialhousing
