It's official! We are now fundraising for a new van to better serve the community. Can you help? Our current small van, Rusty, is now 17 years old and no longer fit for purpose. Poor old Rusty is living up to his name and is also leaking, causing real problems with keeping our donations in tip top condition. Every week we collect surplus or unwanted materials from local businesses across Dorset, diverting them from landfill. We are aiming to raise £10k for a larger replacement van. A long wheel base high top van would be much more reliable and cost effective, cutting down on repeat journeys and enabling us to collect donations much more efficiently. We'd love to be able to serve our local community much better and save more surplus from landfill! All donations are welcome, and please do share this appeal with your network.
About us
Dorset Scrapstore is a not-for-profit charity that believes in a world where manufacturing waste doesn’t go to landfill – it becomes a low cost community resource for crafting and creativity. We accept any suitable materials from local businesses or individuals and all our materials are suitable for use in art, craft, education and play. We run affordable workshops for children and adults which cover a range of activities and focus on skill-learning in a fun and friendly group environment. We also have a small shop selling arts and crafts products at very competitive prices.

Can anyone in our network support Children's Scrapstore with tote bags?
We are making activity packs for children in Bristol, which will go out over the Christmas period and we need some more bags – can you or your organisation help? We are looking for medium to large bags that are durable enough to transport a bundle of mixed scrap and art resources – fabric or strong paper would all be appreciated! We’d happily take in a redundant stash of bags advertising a business - so long as it’s family friendly in nature. Get in touch on 0117 914 3002 or email enquiries@childrensscrapstore.co.uk

It's been a busy season of events for us and we've loved every minute! Saving craft supplies from landfill and helping our community get creative is what it's all about. A big thank you to Arts by the Sea Festival Arts University Bournemouth Freshers Fair and Planet Wimborne Green Festival for having us. 💚 At Arts by the Sea this year we had our biggest craft space yet - a huge marquee! We reckon at least 2000 makers came and got involved with our free craft activities over the weekend - absolutely incredible. 💚 At the Freshers Fair we brought along our scrap supplies to help students get creative, and even treated them to some stationery freebies. Lovely to connect with the student community right on our doorstep. 💚 At Wimborne Green Festival we did a crafty diorama make-and-take to fit the river theme, and loved meeting the other Dorset green organisations and charities - and one of The Wombles! Where should we pop up next?
