What does Labour’s UK energy strategy look like? On 3 December 2024, the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association will be hosting their Local Authority Forum at our new London office. Gareth Miller Chair of Downing’s Energy Market Risk Committee, and Tom Williams, Head of Energy and Infrastructure at Downing, will lead a session on “Labour’s UK energy strategy: the rise of renewables.” This session will provide an analysis of Labour’s energy strategy, focusing on the government's efforts to develop domestic renewable energy sources. It will also evaluate key policy actions, including changes to the grid connection application system and the establishment of GB Energy, and discuss how these measures will impact both the UK energy market and investment opportunities in renewables. We understand that financial advisers value insights, real-life case studies and actionable solutions for their continued learning, enabling them to provide the best service to their clients. We are pleased to announce the latest acquisitions of two hydropower plants in Norway with a combined annual energy generation of 10 GWh. Both power plants have been completed by the renewable energy and infrastructure arm of the Downing Estate Planning Service (DEPS) and as part of our agreement with long-term partner Fossberg Kraft AS. DEPS now has a total annual average production of 43 GWh a year from its portfolio of nine Norwegian hydropower plants.
