📢 It was Scottish Apprenticeship Week last week, and our Early Careers team celebrated by visiting some of our external education partners and attending some fantastic events! 🌟 We delivered a virtual session to students across Dumfries and Galloway schools, covering everything you need to know about Scottish Apprenticeships at Drax. The session was recorded and shared with schools across the region! 🌟 Drax Technical Apprentice, Owen Moran, joined a virtual panel event hosted by Skills Development Scotland and Developing the Young Workforce. Owen joined a panel of other apprentices sharing experiences with students that are interested in Apprenticeships. 🌟 Early Careers ended the week with our Scottish Community Manager, delivering our 'Apprenticeships at Drax' presentation to a class of Engineering Foundation Apprenticeship and Physic Students. A full and rewarding week, showcasing Drax opportunities and educating students on all things Apprenticeships! Throughout our journey, we will continue to prioritise the rigorous standards of best practice measured by mechanisms such as EU taxonomy and CDP ratings - these pillars will be the key to proving that Drax can keep the lights on for millions of people using sustainable biomass generation, responsibly. 💡

🌍 EU scientific advisors called for a rapid scale-up of carbon dioxide removals (CDR) 🌍   The European Scientific Advisory Board on Climate Change has released a report on scaling up CDR, highlighting the role of nature-based and technological solutions like Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage (BECCS). 🗞️   The report outlines the actions that can be taken now to ensure CDRs are deployed in their fullest potential towards EU climate goals. 🇪🇺   The report calls, amongst others, for: 🔎 Separate targets for permanent removals. 🔎 Increased funding and market incentives paired with robust MRV. 🔎 A gradual integration of permanent removals into the EU ETS. 🔎 Establishing an ‘extended emitter responsibility’. 🔎 Coordination, investment and strategic planning for EU’s CO2 transport and storage infrastructure.   And much more, find out more via the link in comments.
