Urgent reminder: The next phase of the Mayor of London’s Direct Vision Standard (DVS) takes effect in a few days, on Monday 28 October ⭐⭐⭐ Logistics UK and the RHA (Road Haulage Association) are urging businesses to check if their vehicles require a permit to continue operating in London. HGV fleets over 12 tonnes must demonstrate compliance. Vehicles must either have a three-star safety rating, as specified by Transport for London (TfL), or be equipped with the Progressive Safe System (PSS). Failure to comply could result in a £550 penalty charge notice, and businesses may be prohibited from operating in the capital. If PSS installation can’t be completed before enforcement begins, operators can apply for extra time, provided the work is booked in advance of Monday (no applications will be accepted after 11:59pm on Sunday 27 October). Twelve Driver Hire staff from Scotland raised an incredible £5,000 when they completed The Kiltwalk in Edinburgh. They chose to support Chris's House, a suicide prevention charity and with September being ‘Suicide prevention and awareness month’, it was the perfect charity to benefit from their efforts. The team (all from offices owned by Wilson Gibb Management Services; dhBorders, Driver Hire Edinburgh City & West Lothian, Fife, Motherwell, along with members of the Wilson Gibb payroll team) joined over 9,000 participants who collectively raised £1.5M for 800 Scottish charities. The sunny day saw walkers complete either a 20-mile, 11-mile, or 5-mile challenge, with proceeds going to mental health support.
