Earlier this week we recruited our 400th volunteer to the Dr Kershaw’s Team! 💜 We are incredibly excited to share this milestone with you all, and celebrate how wonderfully generous the people of Oldham are with their time. We could not run without volunteers and we are beyond grateful for the time each person gives to support us, our patients and their families.

#ThankYouThursday 💜 Following their amazing efforts at Born Survivor, GTD Healthcare came to visit and had a tour of our Hospice. Learning more about the work we do in our Dementia Hub, Caring Hands and Hospice at Home services, as well as seeing the work currently underway in our gardens. The team raised a whopping £3,206.52, including Gift Aid! Thank you to Oldham & District Ladies Bowling League for their very generous donation of £800. Since 2012, they have raised over £17,000 for our patients and their families at the Hospice! Glenn and Rachel from our Fundraising Team visited Asda Chadderton to see Cath, the lovely Community Champion at the store and speak to members of the Community about the Hospice. Thank you to everyone for your very kind donations throughout the day.

#ThankYouThursday 💜 A massive thank you to Oldham & District u3a members who raised an amazing £1,119 for Dr Kershaw's Hospice. Thank you for making a difference! The u3a is a UK wide, cooperative movement of people no longer in full time work who come together to continue their educational, social and creative interests in a friendly and informal environment. Oldham & District u3a was launched in the Autumn of 2009 and has about 650 members and is still growing. The u3a approach to learning is: learning for pleasure with an emphasis on informality. The u3a activities offer a good opportunity to get out of the house and meet people. For further information visit their website https://lnkd.in/eJdWC7hS or phone or text 07706 486907.

Our Light Up a Life Service gives you the chance to remember your loved ones by dedicating a light in their memory on our Light Up a Life dedication tree. Sue Baker’s husband, Alan, was cared for by the Dr Kershaw’s Hospice team and is supporting Light Up a Life in his memory. Sue explains: “Last year was the first Christmas without Alan and I made a Light Up a Life dedication in his name. It is a way to remember, but also a way to raise vital money for such an incredible place. When the tree lit up it felt very special, and coming together at the Hospice helped me feel closer to Alan. My Light Up a Life dedication brought me comfort and I was able to remember the special memories of Alan. I would encourage others to make a dedication too, to remember their loved ones and to support such an incredible Hospice.” To make your dedication for this year’s service, taking place on Sunday 1st December, visit: https://lnkd.in/eqAqHNYU or call 0161 624 9984.
