    How would others describe your leadership behaviour, especially under pressure? In this short video, I talk about some areas I think are important for how leaders can improve and create a healthy culture and environment through their interactions. 🗺Accepted and repeated behaviours create your workplace culture. 🤔Leading comes with pressures, which can have both positive and negative impacts on stress levels and interactions with others. 🧡 Individual awareness and emotional management skills are significant in creating and maintaining a healthy workplace environment (even when it's challenging). Your best people, if they disrespect their leaders, won't put up with it for long. They either leave or show up with minimal engagement. Worse, your not so best people, will stay and copy the behaviour! One leader I coached along with a psychometric for mental toughness, said, 'I cannot thank you enough... understanding how to change depending on the circumstances... reposition my mindset in a strategic and easy step way.     Coaching Credentials - how much do they matter to you? 🤔 I ask this as we know that despite passing their test not all drivers are great at it, even after many years! As a coach of 20 years, I have plenty of recommendations I can share with my potential clients, however, it takes time to build credibility and part of that comes with ongoing learning. 🎉 My first coaching qualification was back in 2005, a life coaching certification. I was working in people development and my manager suggested I study and build coaching skills. 🍾 Since then coaching managers and leaders have been central to my work in multiple organisations; and for the last 10 years, within my business Head4Leadership. I've practised coaching nationally and internationally ever since. 🛠 Other qualifications, certifications and accreditations* followed because serious coaches want to continue improving themselves. It means I can rightly serve my clients with skills, tools and insights that best suit them and their situation. * https://lnkd.in/es95NkBP 🎓 Accreditation for my years and hours of coaching led me about 10 years ago to approach the International Authority for Professional Coaching & Mentoring. IAPC&M accreditation (APC - Accredited Practitioner Coach) results from having proven ability (skills assessment), verified testimonials, coaching logs, questionnaires and proof of continued development including supervision. A requirement of 30 annual CPD hours is required to maintain the accreditation. Coaches don't have to be accredited to coach. Nevertheless, knowing that a potential coach focuses on mastery can go a long way in informing your hiring decision.     Big day tomorrow for the UK with our general election I picked this flag to fly. 'Keep calm and carry on' In a chaotic world, that stimulates strong emotions, where change is a certainty, the best response is to focus on what you can control. Emotional regulation is one of those things and is a skill high quality leaders display. A skill that aids clear thinking, which helps reduce stress levels and enables your body to function better.     EQ - Is the important differentiator for better leadership. A podcast on why bad bosses rise to the top. Often more often male, yet lets not forget bad leadership affects both men and women. Just one of the points raised - that those with high EQ can be slower to reach leadership positions because they are less narcissistic and ruthless in their approaches to being promoted in an organisation. "...I recently did a Head Start session with Head4Leadership and WOW - what an eye opener! Dominiques expertise at evaluating how I deal with/avoid conflict helped me immensely. She made me realise that I did indeed have the skills to vocalise succinctly what I expect from my business dealings - assuring me that it would not start world war 3! There was a specific issue with a client that I had to address. Taking on board everything she taught me, I took the plunge and was unequivocal in communicating my acute fury. Despite the cold sweat it caused me to do so - I got an in person apology and the matter was thoroughly investigated. Had I behaved in my old "don't want to cause a ruckus" manner, I believe the behaviour might have been repeated. 5 stars, and a more confident and assertive me!!"     Everyday's a school day! Spent this UK bank holiday refreshing and increasing my EDI awareness. Some great examples that can show how unintentially people can be and feel excluded. Which can cause the loss of great people and innovation in our organisations.     The multiple ways morning light benefits you. "Light directly impacts our mood, our sleep, our ability to wake up and focus, our hormone levels, our immune system, and our ability to cope with stress," Neuroscientist Andrew Huberman When work and life are complex and complicated. Give your body and mind the tools to deal with it. This is leading youself. Light is one - before 11am, upto 20 minutes and again before sunset. The sun doesn't need to be out. Other tools - let your body and brain rest with sleep, fuel it with healthy foods and drinks and move it regularly to keep moving parts moving. I belive that by leading yourself well you are in better shape to lead others well. Sunrise! Last week, 5 mornings, roughly between 6 - 6.30am. #leadyourself #leadership #coaching #neuroscience
