Announcing the launch of Co-designing Space Towards Spatial Justice! A guide for achieving meaningful participation in co-design processes, the online platform is now live, hosting theoretical and practical resources to help you integrate participatory methodologies within your practice. It's a one-stop shop for tools, documentation and analysis of case study projects. Led by Jane Wong and Tom Greenall, as the recipients of a RIBA Research Fund, and with contributions from over 20 collaborators across the globe. The study also received funding from The Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL, and Julita Skodra and Yip Siu provided critical bridges to further public commissioners and authorities, including the Greater London Authority and the Rathaus Bremen. Thanks to Neal Shasore for his support and guidance, and for acting as supervisor for the initial body of funded research. We'll be the first to admit we love digital tools to design and collaborate — but sometimes a piece of chalk is the best technology. Amazing to see the students at LSA map their Wembley site, roll out their narrative, and define the experience across the public space. Public spaces need a big shake up in whose stories they tell, why and how. So it's been great to explore this as a part of the Design Think Tank on Pageantry and Procession with Saqqra DSDHA The Place Bureau and Eddie Blake and an incredibly skilled cohort of students. #worldbuilding #narrativeplacemaking #publicspace #experiencedesign #collaborativefutures

The National Youth Theatre(NYT) has been announced as a 2025 CIVIC TRUST AWARDS and 2025 Selwyn Goldsmith Awards for Universal Design: Regional Finalist. NYT is deservedly recognised as a community asset in Islington and has promoted a sense of belonging to the many participants who have accessed its Youth Arts programmes over the last sixty years. We are super proud to see NYT get the recognition it deserves, and especially so for the Selwyn Goldsmith Awards, as DSDHA's retrofit was driven in large part by considered engagement with current users, and supported by accessibility consultants, to ensure it became a diverse space, usable by many. Last Friday, we felt especially thankful to be hosted at NYT for DSDHA’s Christmas Party. We saw talented performers take to the stage for a production of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night and enjoyed a communal meal put together by Syrian Sunflower Kitchen. The Civic Trust Awards encourage the best in architecture and environmental design, to improve the built environment for us all through design, sustainability, inclusiveness and accessibility, and also to reward projects that offer a positive cultural, social, economic or environmental benefit to their local communities. The Selwyn Goldsmith Awards for Universal Design celebrate places that are responsive, flexible, welcoming, easy to use and occupy, allowing all to use with dignity and equality. #SpatialJustice #InclusionInDesign #CulturalInfrastructure
