We had the privilege of being hosted for a business meeting and sumptuous dinner by Mrs. Yemisi Edun, CFA, Managing Director & CEO FCMB Limited, alongside the top leadership of the bank. The evening provided a platform for EStars and FCMB Limited to delve into mutual commercial opportunities to create and capture value within the multi billion dollars Esports industry. Tuesday 25th of July was filled with engaging events! As the Chair IoD Africa Group, I had the pleasure of attending the #Nigeria- British Chambers of Commerce event at the prestigious Kensington Hilton Hotel in London. The week-long event was a high-level strategic networking opportunity, offering valuable insights into various commercial opportunities in Nigeria for British businesses. Additionally,I had a unique experience at the Namibia High Commission during a courtesy visit by IoD Africa Group. Namibia, as large as Germany and France combined, presents a myriad of commercial opportunities in sectors like agriculture, education,green hydrogen, renewable energy, and maritime. It was enlightening to learn about various possibilities for British businesses in Namibia, including sourcing grapes and blueberries from Namibia for various retailers in the UK - Sainsbury's, Tesco etc. Special thanks to Her Excellency, Ambassador Linda Scott for a very warm reception. ANNOUNCEMENT- We are delighted to share that Francis Anatogu has been appointed as Adviser IoD Africa Group-West Africa Region! Francis Anatogu is a seasoned business executive known for his transformative leadership and strategic acumen. With a wealth of experience driving policy and business improvement initiatives across various sectors, Francis has made significant contributions to the advancement of #international trade in Africa. Francis played a pivotal role in facilitating Nigeria's accession to the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). His expertise in coordinating impact assessments, readiness evaluations, and stakeholder advocacy was instrumental in guiding the nation's integration into this landmark trade agreement. Subsequently, as the inaugural Executive Secretary, Francis led the establishment of the national committee secretariat and spearheaded the development of Nigeria's implementation strategy for the #AfCFTA. His visionary leadership and strategic foresight were key in laying the foundation for the country's successful participation in the continental economic bloc. Prior to his public sector role, Francis amassed extensive consulting experience with renowned firms such as Accenture and Deloitte. His consultancy engagements primarily focused on advising energy companies on growth strategies, market expansion, and local content optimization. Additionally, Francis specialized in implementing operational improvement programs to enhance efficiency and readiness. He began his career at Shell and Schlumberger, where he honed his skills in conceptualizing oil and gas asset development, long-term production planning, and investment decision analysis. 🌍 This morning, I had the privilege of attending the Ambassadorial Roundtable-Mauritania hosted by the Arab-British Chamber of Commerce, focused on unveiling the economic opportunities in #Mauritania. We delved into sectors brimming with potential, including mining, fisheries, agriculture, oil & gas, and renewable energies. 📈 It was enriching to share insights and discuss the promising avenues for sustainable investment in West Africa. 🤝 I am looking forward to further engaging discussions and collaborative opportunities with the Embassy of Mauritania in London. Last Friday, on the 3rd of May, as the Chair, IoD Africa Group I had the pleasure of attending an extraordinary outing at the #Algerian Embassy in London. We were graciously hosted by His Excellency Ambassador Nourredine Yazid, the Algerian High Commissioner to the #UK. The event brought together distinguished guests from diplomatic missions, business leaders, academia, and members of Parliament. During the event, a 'Briefing-Discussion' was held under the theme of "Knowledge Economy, Start-ups, and AI in Algeria," presented by the esteemed Dr. Yacine Oualid , the Honourable Minister of Knowledge Economy, Start-ups, and Micro-enterprises. It was a truly enlightening experience to engage in conversations surrounding these important topics. IoD Africa Group is looking forward to a step further in collaborations with the embassy and the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, Start-ups, and Micro-enterprises. Yesterday, the Illinois State Senate passed SB 2960, which would ban small plastic hotel personal care product bottles.
