About us

Duncan Taylor Scotch Whisky Ltd are family owned, luxury whisky merchants. With origins dating back to 1864, the company selects and matures casks from distilleries across Scotland and currently owns one of the world's largest private collections of vintage Scotch whisky. With a multi award winning brand portfolio, Duncan Taylor Scotch Whisky Ltd harnesses generations of expertise to deliver the finest whisky without compromise. Duncan Taylor's portfolio includes: Peerless: Single malt and single grain whiskies aged for a minimum of 40 years. Each unique release is the product of a single cask and is bottled at natural strength, offering incomparable luxury and scarcity to the true connoisseur. Rare Auld: A range of cask strength single malt and single grain whiskies aged between 17-39 years, offering the most comprehensive overview of Scotland's distilleries. The Octave: The small cask with the bigger whisky. Each release in the Octave collection has been matured for a secondary period in a traditional 1/8th size Octave cask. Increased wood-to-spirit contact in the Octave gently expands the profile of the spirit without masking it, resulting in a bigger, bolder whisky. Black Bull: Duncan Taylor's flagship range of deluxe blended whiskies, the multi award winning Black Bull range dates back to 1864 and has acquired a worldwide reputation for its uncompromised quality. The Black Bull brand is currently sold as 12 year old, 40 year old and Special Reserve expressions.

  • HIGHLAND PARK 1970 - FORBES INDEPENDENT REVIEW... Always nice to get a review from Forbes mag and our Highland Park 1970, from 1954 is selling well globally but find out what they said when they tasted the liquid itself; "One the nose, it’s layered and complex, with delicate nutmeg, clove, and cinnamon spice quickly meeting toasted sourdough bread. Light tropical fruit develops with more time, along with a wisp of incense-forward smoke." "The first sip is mildly viscous, with a beeswax-like quality and traces of honey syrup. Oak and blackcurrant hit simultaneously on the midpalate, a tannic-and-fruity combo that forms the whisky’s flavor base on additional sips. A series of earthen, damp, mossy flavors come next, paired with barely-there ocean breeze salinity. It’s ultimately more oak-forward with slightly less minerality than some other ultra-aged Highland Park distillate I’ve had, though in truth, there’s quite a bit of overlap in flavor profile; despite a different aging environment than the distillery’s own, this tastes like old Highland Park, through and through." Well, it doesn't get much better than that. If you want to get your hands one (and why wouldn't you after a review like that?) then head to The Spirits Embassy who have it available online. https://lnkd.in/ezP4hnyJ

  • SUPPORTING MAGGIE'S CANCER CHARITY... We were in London earlier this week supporting Maggie's Centres with a brilliant night of fundraising with Tony Singh MBE Cyrus Todiwala OBE DL FIH and Alistair Birt MCA who is the Senior Head Pastry Chef at Harrods. Guests arrived to a cocktail made with our Black Bull Scotch Whisky 12 year old to kick things off. Then the celebrity chefs created an 8-course tasting menu with Alistair creating a Spiced Apple Tarte Tatin with a whisky cream made using our Bunnahabhain non-peated. Our Private Client Manager Mark Thomson then had the opportunity to talk guests through our UK exclusive Glentauchers Octave which was the dram served with the dessert. A fantastic night of fun which included a live auction for a brilliant charity. #charity #maggiescentres #whisky #pairedwhisky #celebritychefs #fundraiser

HIGHLAND PARK 1970 IS LAUNCHED... We have unveiled the oldest Highland Park whisky ever released by an independent bottler and one of the oldest to come on the market. The inaugural edition of The Accolade, is part of our esteemed Rarest Collection. This 54-year-old Highland Park from 1970, from cask number #3254 has yielded 158 bottles at 42.9% ABV. Housed in an elegantly finished cabinet accented with a dynamic wave, The Accolade spirit reveals itself within an evocative hand-crafted dagger decanter, complemented by the themed wave in the form of an illuminated copper plinth. A certificate of authenticity and handling kit containing gloves are nestled on either side of the cabinet. A rare and aged expression from the Scottish distillery in Orkney, Duncan Taylor has owned the cask since its inception, and it has been aged for more than half a century. Harnessing the influence of the salty sea winds and the intensely floral peat, the whisky was matured in the finest sherry-seasoned oak casks for the entirety of the maturation process. The complex interplay of sweet and smoky flavour creates an unrivalled balance. Our CEO Shawn Smith commented; “This is the last collection for our rare and aged whiskies this year. It is an honour to launch one of the oldest Highland Park whiskies to reach the market and present it within the luxurious packaging befitting the rare spirit inside.” The Accolade Highland Park is priced at £22,000 and is available from The Spirits Embassy online - https://lnkd.in/etafeS22 Image taken by the talented Ray Smith #highlandpark #whisky #rarewhisky #agedwhisky #duncantaylorscotch
