I officially graduated in July, and though it’s a little late, I’m happy to share that I completed my Master’s in Computer Science with First-Class Honours from Durham University!
I’m proud to have finished second in my year and achieved 92% on my research paper, "Beyond the Recommendations: Unravelling Explainability in Recommender Systems". I had the opportunity to work closely with advanced techniques such as Explainable Matrix Factorisation and LIME (local interpretable model-agnostic explanations) alongside the GPT API to further the current research surrounding user-friendly explanations for recommender systems. I’m now in the process of refining this paper for publication with my supervisor, Sunčica Hadžidedić, whose support and guidance were invaluable.
During my time at university, I was also awarded the Anne Marie Imafidon Women In Technology Scholarship, a prestigious honour that has been a source of motivation throughout my academic journey. I had the incredible privilege of meeting and chatting with Dr A-Marie I. in person at my graduation, where she received her honorary doctorate— a truly memorable and motivating moment.
As I take my next steps, I am actively seeking graduate opportunities in tech, software engineering, or roles focused on data science, AI/ML, where I can apply the skills and knowledge I've developed. Please feel free to reach out if you know of any opportunities!
