Empowering Durham Students to expand their understanding of business & prepare for their professional careers since 2010
About us
Founded in 2010, DUWIB has been enormously successful in helping our members gain access to internships and graduate schemes with some of the world’s most prestigious firms. We aim to empower enterprising students of Durham University to expand and sharpen their understanding of business and give them the skills they will need to become future leaders. In 2021, we were awarded Bright's Network Society with the Biggest Impact on Campus in the UK! We work in partnership with a wide range of companies within Consulting, Law, Banking, Financial Services, FMCG and more, to organise events for our members, thus providing them with career development opportunities throughout their time at university. If you have any queries or would like to discuss partnership opportunities, please email us at women.inbusiness@durham.ac.uk.

The DUWIB mentorship scheme is back 🤩 and Mentee applications are open. To sign up and experience the benefits from a graduate mentor please use the link in the bio! The scheme pairs student mentees with graduate mentors and is an excellent way to gain application tips, interview advice and industry insight during the internship/job application process. The programme works so that mentees take charge of their own development by proactively organising regular conversations with their mentors. These conversations vary according to the different mentors and mentees, some prefer emails, calls (Zoom, Teams, Google), messages (Whatsapp) or meeting face to face and I would recommend they are performed fortnightly or every three weeks. Applications are open to all DUWIB members (sign up in our bio) in any year, studying any degree, whether you are certain on your career path or not. This scheme is highly competitive, so to increase your chances please take time on your application and be as detailed as possible. Mentee link - https://lnkd.in/eea5Q-TA

The DUWIB mentorship scheme is back for the 2024/25 Academic year and Mentor applications are open! To sign up and be part of our excellent mentorship scheme please use the link in the bio. Applications are open to mentors across all sectors, at any experience level with our scheme having mentors that graduated this year, 2024, and mentors that graduated over 15 years ago! The DUWIB mentorship scheme pairs graduate mentors with student mentees. The scheme aims to foster long lasting, mutually beneficial relationships with students and mentors interested in the same sector. Mentors have the opportunity to help their mentee by giving application tips, interview advice and industry insight during internship and graduate applications and can watch their mentee succeed and grow throughout the process. The programme works so that mentees take charge of their own development by proactively organising regular conversations with their mentors which may include emails, online calls, WhatsApp or messages or meeting face to face. If you know any other Durham alumni that might be interested in mentoring a student, please send the sign-up form to them to fill in.
