‘Off the Rails’, our fantastic team attending this year’s The Big Rail Diversity Challenge worked together in a series of challenges and won second place out of 52 other teams across the #rail industry. In May, our colleagues came together to raise awareness of a charity called “Aviation Action,” the only charity dedicated to people in the #Aviation industry that focuses on wellbeing and mental health. In line with our commitment to #ESG and protecting the environment, our teams have been preserving local #biodiversity and wildlife habitats. Holly van Driel, Sustainability Advisor directed the Design and Construction team on protecting local biodiversity that surrounds our Emergency Landslip project in Kent. Alongside our client Heathrow we have installed a reading shed at Harmondsworth Primary School. The new space provides learning in a different environment while also enjoying the upcoming summer months. We've received an Order of Distinction Award and our first ever Fleet Gold Award. Alongside winning a further two Orders of Distinction in association with longstanding clients, Heathrow and London Gatwick. Our rail team also won the President's Award, for achieving Gold status on 13 consecutive occasions. Supporting Sutton Community Project and Edenbridge Foodbank, we donated several crates of essential food, cleaning and hygiene products to support local community needs. We have now established relationships with these local foodbanks, allowing us to make further donations all year round.   Holly van Driel, #Sustainability Advisor, said: “We’re committed to leaving a positive legacy in the local communities in which we operate and are pleased to be able to establish relationships with local foodbanks to provide ongoing, meaningful support through these donations.”   A representative from Edenbridge Foodbank, said: “We were recently thrilled to receive a donation from two larger companies, Dyer & Butler and their supporting contractor Handikram. We’re proud to announce our first cohort of operatives have passed our Brickwork Development Programme, developed in partnership with JRS Training & Assessment. This course was developed to ensure our team can carry out brickwork repairs on site for our clients, in line with Network Rail’s standard detail drawings. We’re extremely proud to see our people develop in this specialist sector and deliver cost effective solutions for our clients. We’ve worked alongside client, Mitie, to resurface the Alpha Loop at Mount Pleasant Complex airfield in the Falkland Islands, allowing aircraft to move to and from the runways. Working with Mitie, alongside the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) and Associated Asphalt, we managed challenging conditions to complete the 9,400m2 resurfacing project in less than a month. The project saw the team remove 3,500 tonnes of concrete and replace it with stone mastic asphalt, after transporting an entire asphalt batching plant and heavy plant equipment from the UK.
