🌱 Reflecting on an incredible event where we gathered with leaders from the hospitality industry to support their journey towards sustainability! It was inspiring to see so many forward-thinking businesses ready to make a positive impact through the Westminster City Council's Sustainable City Charter. Thank you to Westminster Council for partnering with us on this important project, thank you Douglas McMaster for presenting his amazing case study of his zero-waste restaurant, Silo London, and a huge shoutout to England’s Grace for graciously hosting us. 🙌 We were thrilled to have influential voices from the industry join us, including representatives from GAIL's, CARAVAN COFFEE ROASTERS | B Corp™, WatchHouse, and Colicci. These businesses are among many taking bold steps to integrate sustainability into their operations and lead by example. Together, we explored resources, support, and success stories, creating an engaging space for knowledge-sharing and discussions on building a more sustainable future for hospitality. Working on a small team for a non-profit means wearing many hats, and for this project, I found myself stepping into roles I hadn’t fully explored before. As a one-woman marketing team, I’ve had some experience with web design and development, but re-imagining the Earthfest website was an entirely different ball game—ambitious, complex, and honestly, a lot more fun than anything I’d worked on before! 🎨💻 The beauty of being on a small team is that you’re constantly upskilling—by necessity and by choice. The Earthfest website pushed me to learn quickly and dive deeper into areas I wasn’t initially confident in. It wasn’t always smooth sailing (let’s be real, there were definitely a few late nights!), but the growth that comes from these challenges is invaluable. A massive thank you to the team at Framework Digital Ltd for working with us on the new website, and being amazing mentors that gave me the confidence to try new things and get more involved with the project. 💪 To my fellow one-person marketing teams out there—you know the grind. 🌍 Looking Back: The Future of Greentech Festival (October 2023) 🌿 (7 min read) I had the pleasure of attending London Clean Air "The Future of Greentech" event last October, hosted at Google's impressive London HQ in Kings Cross. It was an eye-opening experience for anyone passionate about long term principles supporting green technology and sustainable innovation. The event brought together leaders from diverse organisations from Politics, Energy, Infrastructure, Fashion and Finance, including United Nations, RenewableUK, National Grid, Circ®, H&M Fashions, Impact Investment Group and Schroders. Their insights into how each sector is driving sustainable change were truly inspiring. It’s clear that embracing long-term thinking, sustainable partnerships, and continued innovation is essential for shaping our cleaner, greener, and more equitable future. One of the quotes that resonated with me most at the event came from Roisin Quinn, Dir of Asset Opps at National Grid - “Be inspired by what has been achieved. Now it's time to scale up and be different." Earthfest is back in June 2025, across the impressive Kings Cross estate. A fantastic central London location, attracting a curious audience. In April Earthfest partnered with some of the worlds biggest brands including Tesla, Formula E, Google, Samsung, Elemis, WWF and many more. We have some great plans for 2025 including a green kitchen, sustainable fashion zone, a fantastic line-up on the music stage plus we'll retain all the key features from 2024 including the EV test track, expo and some amazing speakers live across our 4 stages. Our 4 day event will include a schools day, B2B conference and then open to the public for the weekend. Today, the World Meteorological Organization published a report detailing how sea level rise in the region is above the global average. The report also shows that in the region, sea surface temperatures have risen three times faster than the global average and marine heatwaves have approximately doubled in frequency since 1980. “The reason is clear: greenhouse gases – overwhelmingly generated by burning fossil fuels – are cooking our planet. And the sea is taking the heat – literally,” said Mr Guterres, as he urged the world to "answer the SOS before it is too late." Earlier this year, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said Australia would be ramping up its extraction and use of gas until “2050 and beyond,” despite calls to phase out fossil fuels.
