✈️ Eastern Airways proud to welcome trailblazer Harry ✈️ Harry Robinson, a 28-year-old pilot, is set to make history as he begins flying commercial flights for Eastern Airways this November. Harry’s journey to the flight deck has been marked by his own drive, perseverance and resilience, overcoming significant challenges to achieve his professional goals. Harry’s passion for flying began in 2012; and despite being told he would never hold a Class 1 medical due to his hearing impairment; he never gave up. In 2019, after a rigorous process, he received medical clearance, a milestone that allowed him to pursue his dream of flying commercially. Harry is believed to be the first, if not the only, pilot in the world with a Cochlear BAHA (bone anchored hearing aid), a testament to his determination and advancements in aviation medical regulations. Reflecting on his journey, Harry expressed gratitude for the support he received from York Flying School and the Goodricke Foundation, a York-based deaf charity. “York Flying School was the bread and butter for where I started this journey 12 years ago,” Harry said. “The Goodricke Foundation has massively helped me in achieving a lot of these opportunities too.” Harry’s story is one of inspiration, showing that with resilience and support, even the most challenging of goals can be achieved. “I hope someone in a similar situation will read this and aspire to achieve their goals, just like I have,” he said. “It takes time and lots of resilience, but it’s 100% worth it!” Harry’s success is not just a personal victory, but a significant step forward for inclusivity in the aviation industry, his story will undoubtedly inspire many to pursue their dreams, regardless of the obstacles they may face. Richard Lake expressed his pride in supporting Harry’s journey. “We are incredibly proud to support Harry as he embarks on his career with us. His perseverance and resilience are truly admirable, and he serves as an inspiration for all aspiring pilots. Head of Cabin Services and Training Craig Jackson-Greenwood said: “A highlight of my role is to welcome new colleagues into the fold, this group has been particularly pivotal for me as it’s the first group to take through the training since I joined the business in August. I am so proud of their achievements; and I look forward to following their careers as they thrive in their new roles!” A total of nine new Cabin Crew gained their wings in our most recent group, with five due to to be Senior Cabin Crew. #EasternAirways
