About us

Eastside People is a community of experienced professionals focused on helping charity, not-for-profit and social enterprise leaders to build the capacity and impact of their organisations. Through our consultancy and recruitment services we provide consultants, interims, mentors, senior executives and board members, giving social sector organisations access to the very best senior level capacity. Our services include consultancy for strategy, governance, AI, Merger and Partnership, Impact Measurement and Evaluation, Income Generation and Social Investment projects plus Board and Permanent Recruitment and provision of experienvced Interim Managers. We care passionately about results and what gets implemented in the real world recognising that the difference we make is the change that sticks. We therefore draw on our own experiences and lessons from over 2,600 consulting and recruitment projects, so that our clients gain access to better insights about how to make organisational change sustainable. Our team is made up of over 100 highly skilled individuals who are passionate about using their skills and knowledge to bring about social change. We are recognised as one of the top social enterprises in the country featuring in the Natwest SE100 Index and have a Foundation which provides an alignment of purpose with the clients we serve. We are proud to contribute to the ecology of social sector infrastructure being a corporate partner to ACEVO, a member of Social Enterprise UK, a capacity building provider for various Foundations such as Power to Change and Lloyds Bank Foundation, and certified as a Good Finance adviser.

    Being a trustee is such a rewarding role and often poorly understood. We try to demystify the role and open it up when we recruit for board members at Eastside People and have found lots of great trustees who didn't know these roles exist or didn't realise they could do it. I completely agree with Sarah Elliott here - “We need to find ways to tell inspiring stories about trusteeship to show others how impactful this role can be. By connecting with underrepresented groups and clearly outlining what being a trustee entails, we can invite fresh perspectives and talent to the table.” Also makes it even sadder given these issues that Getting On Board weren't able to continue.

    There is a trustee 'crisis' according to new research from NCVO, published today. It shows that one-third of charities have had a trustee vacancy on their board for more than a year. The problem is particularly bad for small and micro charities. Other challenges include trustee diversity - especially age and ethnicity. 79% say that trustee vacancies have stopped them from developing as a charity and 50% say that it has caused stress and anxiety in the organisation. In this context, I'd like to celebrate the fact that charities successfully recruited over *1,570* trustees through Reach Volunteering in the last 12 months. Most of these were small and micro charities. Our service has generated over 8,900 applications for trustee roles over the same period. Of the people who signed up to Reach last year, 51% identified as being from the global majority, and the two most popular age bands were 21 - 30 and 31 - 40. Maybe we don't always blow our own trumpet loud enough, so I am here to say, this #Trustees Week, that Reach makes a big contribution to these challenges

    Charity CEO vacancy closes today, last chance to apply! The key provider of advice, dementia care and support, day care, information and advice, fitness and frailty support services in the North London borough of Enfield, Age UK Enfield, is looking for a new CEO. The charity is part of the national Age UK Charity and its network of local Age UKs and is acknowledged as the leading charitable organisation helping older people in the Borough and supporting around 7,000 older people each year. They are seeking an experienced, driven, and strategic CEO to lead the 30 staff and 60 volunteers at AUKE with great passion and energy. The period ahead is an exciting one. A significant project to bring their services under one roof is in its early stages, providing an opportunity to increase their offerings with a new bespoke facility. They are seeking a new CEO who will be energised by this work and can guide all stakeholders through their strategic plans.
