The ECITB welcomes the publication of Project Willow. It represents an important milestone for the just transition of the Grangemouth industrial cluster and the workers and supply chain it supports. As the next steps are progressed, it is vital that the skills needs of the supply chain are at the forefront of decision making. All of the scenarios envisioned by Project Willow will require a transferable, agile and diverse workforce. The ECITB is committed to playing its part in delivering the support necessary to make the vision of a thriving Grangemouth industrial cluster a reality for generations to come.

“From a career I had no idea even existed, what has been amazing was learning how much variety there is in project controls.”  Just starting out in the industry, India Berry began her Level 6 Project Controls Degree Apprenticeship with Cavendish Nuclear  in September 2024.  She is gaining hands-on experience in key areas like cost engineering, estimating, planning, scheduling and risk management. Today, we were honoured to attend an insightful APPG meeting at the Palace of Westminster, hosted by Baroness Brown Julia King DBE FREng FRS FMedSci and chaired by Samantha Niblett MP. £478,000 boost for skills development in Teesside 💡 Teesside’s workforce is getting a major boost with £478,000 from the ECITB's Regional Skills Hub Funding. The investment will support the creation of an immersive pipefitting, welding, mechanical, and project-based training rig. With the capacity to train over 400 learners in the next five years, this investment is a major step toward building a skilled workforce as part of the Net Zero Teesside cluster project.
