Nested Trays - Not the most exciting subject but crucial to Drinks, Beauty, Baked & Fresh Food sectors . What is interesting about nested trays you ask? - Trays can be made from different substrates – white lined kraft or ovenable, microwaveable, freezable and grease proof cartonboards; weights between 350 micron to 650 micron to suit your application. - Trays can be oven proof with the product being baked in the tray removing the need to collate and fill they tray after baking – ovenable boards replace fluted material which is often on a long lead time. We stock ovenable board on site for fast turnaround for the unforeseen spikes in demand. - Trays come in different shapes – squares, rectangle, octagons, clamshells! - Trays can be plain or printed and have special effects – embossing, foils, litho printed, varnished – soft touch, matt, gloss, satin - Trays come in different sizes for different applications - they can range in size dependent on the product and application. For baked and fresh foods trays carry the product, for drinks they collate multipacks for ease of packing or carrying, and for cosmetics they can be used as fitments to collate multiple products. - Trays can be delivered flat or folded dependent on your individual requirements. - Trays can be integrated into your packing lines and our technologists will work with you to create the optimum design. All our trays are made from cartonboard and we are FSC accredited. As you would expect we are BRC AA+ and have a wealth of experience producing trays, SRP’s, cartons and gift packs. We have two sites that have the capability of producing trays giving us ability to turnaround orders quickly and also give you peace of mind that there is contingency for your business critical orders. Fold Flat Tubes - What are the lid options and are they recyclable? A quick recap - In the last post we talked about fold flat tubes and their benefits compared to traditional rigid tubes: - Cost Effective - Brand Awareness – standout amongst all the squares and rectangles - UK Manufacture - Better Brand Presentation with higher quality embosses and blocking using carton board rather than paper onto board - Reduced lead time (particularly compared to off shore sourcing) - Reduced transport costs – no shipping fresh air - Reduced storage and warehouse requirements & costs - Improve your carbon footprint What we didn’t talk about is the options to seal the fold flat tube! So what sort of lid can be used to seal the Fold Flat Tube? There are 5 options: - A Plastic Lid – this isn’t ideal because well its plastic! Although it can be separated and depending on the type will probably be able to be recycled somehow but what is the consumers perception? - A Metal Lid – again this isn’t ideal but as with plastic it can be separated and also recycled in a separate waste stream to the paper. Now the interesting ones! - An Integrated paper Lid – by using a clever design we constructed a lid that is integral into the fold flat design – it's genius! All the packaging can go into the paper waste stream. - A Paper/Card Recess Lid – again utilising a clever design we create a recess in the main tube and when constructed the lid just clicks into place. - A Pulp Moulded Lid – it is as its described, a lid made from moulded pulp. We will also design and build the jigs to speed up assembly of the tubes based around your production process. Having a 3 D printer allows us to create prototypes quickly for trials.
