Only stocking high performance mountain and outdoor wear produced by brands working hard to reduce their environmental and social footprint. We certainly aren’t perfect but by providing a pre-owned, repairs, rental and end of life service, our goal is to help close the skiwear clothing loop - keeping kit in circulation and on the slopes for longer. #accountability #responsibilty 1% of all sales will be donated to One Percent for the Planet. Regular charity auctions will also be carried out with 100% of the proceeds being donated to the charities we support under the 1% for the Planet umbrella; Oceans, Mountains, Biodiversity, Food and People via the incredible Ghost Fishing UK, Protect Our Winters UK, Leicester and Rutland Wildlife Trust and Root and Branch Out CIC. Our ultimate goal is to continue to do what we love but help make skiwear more affordable and accessible, reducing waste and giving back to inspirational non profits along the way.

Great insights from Chemmy Alcott and Rachael Westbrook from EcoSki on the urgent need for a new approach to winter resorts and winter sports. It is clear that winter resorts are being hugely impacted by climate change with The Guardian estimating the US ski industry has lost over $5bn in the last two decades. Chemmy Alcott advocates for an urgent need for the winter sport industry to address the climate issue and to do more to protect the environment. As Chemmy says people really can't ignore the climate issue now as it is staring them in the face. Rachael Westbrook from EcoSki is advocting for a change in the way we purchase ski clothing alongside equipment, taking a more circular economy approach to clothing, that we may only use once or twice, by renting it as opposed to buying cheap clothing that doesn't last and ends up in landfill. The mountains provide for the communities around them, and in the winter, resorts rely on good snowfall to attract tourists. As the world continues to warm up, the weather has become increasingly unpredictable, affecting seasonal businesses and tourists. It was reported in December that the popular ski resorts of Morzine and Les Gets in the French #Alps saw their full opening delayed until two days before Christmas due to heavy rainfall. This resulted in a loss of financial benefits for the industry, while also leaving tourists in the lurch as they looked to plan their holidays. According to a report in the Guardian, resorts in the alps are some of the most popular ski destinations in the world, with the winter sports industry worth roughly $30bn. More recently, the Guardian reported on new research that demonstrated the US ski industry had lost more than $5bn over the past two decades “due to human-caused global heating”. The changing weather has also shortened the ski season in the US by five-to-seven days and, together with the cost of making artificial #snow, has cost the industry an average of $252m a year in lost revenue... Team DOAC Annual Ski Trip complete ⛷️⛷️⛷️ To celebrate the Team’s incredible 2023; it was a pleasure to host a team-wide ski trip last week🎿🎿🎿🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷. Against a breathtaking Avoriaz backdrop; one would think that the highlight of the trip would be the hospitality (which, admittedly was beyond compare): WRONG! 🚨🚨🚨 For me; the most important takeaway from this trip was how ‘TOGETHER’ a team can feel once encouraged out of their comfort zones 🫣🫣🫣. In the fairly extreme conditions of ski slopes; leaders became learners and penguin-level skiers became pros. When away days are more fitness / challenge focused; here lies an opprtunity for teams to compete; conquer fears; and test character; resilience, care and collaboration. Despite the ‘risks’ we may have taken skiing home from Folie Douce; it’s safe to say the real lesson was this; ‘tested teams are the bestest teams 😉😉😉.’ Take your staff out; put their wits to the test in fun (potentially less booze-fuelled) environments; celebrate their wins and this in turn will foster positive culture back at the office. It’s safe to say I return to DOAC HQ with a full heart and sheer gratitude for the team I belong to. Assistants / admin teams can often be involved in curating group activities / entertainment. I’d love to hear your recommendations, big or small, for how to bring teams together 🎾🎾🎾🏓🏓🏓🎨🎨🎨.
