We’re investing in wind, nuclear and solar to help prevent future energy crises and help Britain achieve Net Zero.

About us

EDF is helping Britain achieve Net Zero by leading the transition to a cleaner, low-emission, electric future and helping prevent future energy crises. Our nuclear fleet has supplied low-carbon electricity to UK homes for more than 40 years, and we’re helping with the development of new nuclear stations at Hinkley Point C and Sizewell C. But we’re not stopping there. EDF is also investing in wind, solar and battery storage technology and helping customers decarbonise their homes and businesses through low-carbon tech such as heat pumps and electric vehicles. Although energy prices have reduced in recent months, they remain significantly higher than they were before the energy crisis. It will come as no surprise that more EDF customers are in debt compared to a year ago. With an expected increase to the price cap in October and again in January, we’re committed to supporting our customers through these challenging times. We’re investing all our profits back into Britain to help bring down future energy costs for customers and the country achieve net zero. We’ve also spent £27 million since last October to help vulnerable customers, including by providing direct financial assistance to those in debt. But we know more is needed. We’ve set out three urgent priorities for the new Government, to address energy affordability; ➡️ Review the Great British Insultation Scheme to enable greater uptake, reducing bills permanently ➡️ Introduce targeted energy bill support through a social tariff to protect those on fixed and low incomes ➡️ Create a central database of vulnerable households using government data to help target support to those most in need Let’s work together to create a more sustainable, affordable energy future for all. We’re pleased to share that Hinkley Point B has successfully completed the emptying of its first reactor. Our dedicated and professional teams have been hard at work ensuring a smooth and safe removal process. Recently, we welcomed ITV West to capture this key milestone in the decommissioning process, granting them access to never-before-seen areas of the power station. Read more here 👉 https://ow.ly/Ua6Z50SWzPC Did you know? Hinkley Point B generated low-carbon electricity for an impressive 46 years before being switched off in August 2022. During its operational lifetime, it produced an impressive 311TWh of electricity – equivalent to supplying every home in the South West for 33 years. This achievement makes it the UK’s most productive nuclear power station. Ben McGrail
