We're proud to share insights from our independent report evaluating AI's role in Dermatology, developed for NHS England. Amidst an 82% surge in waiting lists and a doubling of skin cancer referrals, our July 2024 review reveals how AI holds considerable promise for the NHS. We examined real-world data, analysing over 33,000 lesions assessed by DERM, an AIaMD by Skin Analytics (the only one currently extensively in use in the NHS and with sufficient regulatory approvals to operate autonomously). Through a semi-systematic meta-analysis we determined that AI could match the diagnostic ability of in-person dermatology consultations. This holds potential for prioritising urgent cases, optimising referral processes and offering system savings. Our report takes a critical look at the clinical, operational, and economic implications of AI in Dermatology and underscores the need for robust post-market surveillance to ensure AIaMD's safe and effective use. Read our full report to explore how AI can support the NHS in meeting the rising demand for dermatology services, all while maintaining a commitment to excellence and patient care. 🏥💼 Unlocking Value: The Economic Impact of Clinical Homecare Clinical Homecare emerges as a pivotal solution within the NHS, offering vital care to over 600,000 patients with chronic conditions while alleviating pressure on traditional healthcare systems. Delving deeper into its potential, the National Clinical Homecare Association (NCHA) commissioned a groundbreaking report, conducted by ZPB and Edge Health, to explore the economic implications of Clinical Homecare services. 🔍 A Comprehensive Approach: Methodology Our study adopted a robust methodology, drawing insights from diverse sources including industry indicators, public datasets, patient surveys, and expert interviews. Leveraging health economics analysis, we compared the economic implications of Clinical Homecare against traditional NHS pathways, quantifying benefits in monetary terms and adopting a broad societal perspective. 📊 Key Findings: Unveiling the Economic Benefits Our analysis reveals that Clinical Homecare not only saves the economy £264 million annually by reducing NHS appointments and preserving workforce productivity but also significantly enhances patient well-being. Notably, 75,000 patients circumvent a 40-mile round trip with each delivery, addressing geographical disparities and improving access to care. Moreover, Clinical Homecare adds the equivalent of 15 NHS Trusts' worth of day case elective capacity, further emphasizing its transformative potential. 🔍 Transforming Children’s Care: Bridging the Post-Pandemic Gap The aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic has revealed glaring gaps in paediatric healthcare, with burgeoning waiting lists and inadequate data reporting. While routine procedures were sidelined, children and young people (CYP) faced increasing delays in vital treatments, often with lifelong implications. Paediatric waiting lists have increased by 58% since 2021, underscoring the urgent need for intervention (NHS Digital, RTT Waiting times). 📊 Closing the Information Divide Addressing this challenge, Edge Health teamed up with the Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT) programme and Professor Simon Kenny (OBE), national director for Paediatrics, to pioneer a solution: the Summary Paediatric Indicator Table (SPaedIT). Unlike traditional reporting methods, SPaedIT offers comprehensive insights into pediatric care, covering eight key specialties and serving over 180 providers nationwide. By providing real-time data on demand, capacity, flow, and outcomes, SPaedIT allows providers to identify bottlenecks, strategise interventions, and enhance service delivery. 🔄 Continual Improvement: A Commitment to Excellence SPaedIT has been live for the past 6 months and accessible to users across the NHS, with an ever-growing user audience consisting of clinicians, operational managers, theatre managers, regional and national teams. We are continuing to collect user feedback, constantly refining and updating the list of metrics, visualisations, and methodology to ensure the data within the dashboard is useful and accurately reflects the situation with children’s services on the ground. #PaediatricHealthcare #DataDrivenDecisions #HealthcareInnovation https://lnkd.in/gpSxBajx

📊 Are you harnessing the true power of your healthcare data? ‼ Here's a trade secret: it's not all about front-end analytics. Back-end processes are often overlooked, leading to errors, delays, and outages in data functionality. When it comes to dashboards, for instance, we're seeing a shift from simply building them to ensuring they're functional and reliable. That's why at Edge we've heavily invested in data engineering talent and cutting-edge technology. Our team specialises in building scalable, efficient data pipelines using Azure, ensuring your analytics are built on a foundation of reliability and integrity. A few months ago, we started working with the National Clinical Homecare Association - (NCHA) to quantify the health and socio economic benefits of clinical homecare. I had not anticipated the scale and significance of clinical homecare, particularly in terms of supporting the NHS and helping people live healthier and happier working lives—a rare opportunity for a win-win-win. There are challenges, but the report we helped co-author with ZPB Associates summarises some of the benefits from our analysis which was covered in The Times yesterday. Exciting News: Edge Health is a Financial Times' Top Consultancy! We are pleased to share that Edge has earned a coveted spot on the Financial Times' Top Consultancy list for the fourth consecutive year. This is a much appreciated testament to the hard work of our growing team and dedication to delivering high quality projects in the healthcare and life sciences industry. In light of this recent recognition, we wanted to take a minute to celebrate some of the hard work from the team over the last year. Some of our successes have included (but are not limited to!) Team SPaedIT: delivered a dashboard identifying bottlenecks to streamline service delivery for paediatric care in the NHS. The tool has been transformative in helping frontline NHS staff understand unmet demands for healthcare for CYP, and to identify opportunities for improvement. Team RMP: in partnership with RM Partners, we leveraged analytics to enhance early lung cancer diagnosis initiatives in deprived areas, informing cost-effective policy-making and prioritising health equity in clinical outcomes and healthcare access. Team CtDNA: delivered a project expected to improve equity in genomic testing access substantially, expanding coverage over a broader spectrum of gene mutations and ensuring the inclusion of patients for whom adequate tissue biopsies might not be viable. This achievement also serves as a reminder that we have an expansive scope of work ahead of us as we persist in our mission to improve patient outcomes and healthcare operations in the UK and globally. Thanks to all of our clients and peers who contributed to this recognition! https://lnkd.in/exsWUzFz
