Our REACH programme aims to reduce youth unemployment in the Leeds City LEP Region of England by providing tailored support for young people, many of whom face additional challenges as single parents or due to homelessness, to move into employment, education, and training. This also includes supporting those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). One of our participants struggled with interviews as they had not been employed before and they also had autism, making the interview process difficult. Having joining the REACH programme after visiting our stall at a jobs fair, their adviser helped them to understand new interview techniques and how to answer interview questions effectively. The participant successfully interviewed for a new role and got accepted onto a biomedical course at a local university. We are proud to support young people like the participant above with preparing for their futures and supporting inclusion for vulnerable individuals. Our people are passionate about inclusive education – maximising real learning opportunities for groups who have traditionally been excluded or marginalised – and this has fed into several of our programmes in Sub-Saharan Africa. In Rwanda, for example, our Building Learning Foundations (BLF) programme team helped to embed the role of Special Needs Education Coordinator (SNECO) within Rwandan schools, helping teachers and school leaders to more effectively support children with disabilities and additional needs. One parent of a child with disabilities shared how the programme had not only helped improve their child’s performance, but helped them have a more positive attitude towards their child’s future. We can assume that most people want children to experience the early years curriculum in a similar way – to that end, we cannot assume that all children need the same delivery of that curriculum. Group Chief Quality Officer and Safeguarding Lead at Busy Bees Nurseries Gill Jones MBE’s sharp insight into the all-important delivery of early years education encourages an approach that caters to the breadth of experiences children receive at such a young age. In the latest episode of our Brighter Futures podcast, we turn our focus to early years education. Listen to the podcast below as our panel of experts, including early years consultant Jan Dubiel and Programme Director at EDT Lyn Challender, discuss: - the strengths found in early years education, and priority areas for improving it - whether we have consensus on what matters most in this age range - the value that should be placed on that which we cannot quantify - inequities in the access to enriching early learning experiences. 👩💻 Listen online: https://lnkd.in/eKH42Wka 🍎 Listen on Apple Podcasts: https://lnkd.in/eAvEFEZE 🎧 Listen on Spotify: https://lnkd.in/en9uCy8b 📱 Listen on Amazon Music: https://lnkd.in/eJcay6-P Early Years Professional Development Programme
