This week, we’re welcoming around 400 students to our Bicester site for our Making Tracks into Construction schools gala 👷 Our second annual gala, Making Tracks into Construction, is an opportunity for students in the local area to talk to our team of experts and take part in STEM activities, including trying out some interactive plant simulators! Check out the video below, filmed last year at our inaugural gala, for a glimpse of what’s on offer... #ExceptionalTogether #OneTeam #HighSpeedCareers Victoria Hingley

We are delighted to have delivered the first structurally complete viaduct on the HS2 project! 🥇 Consisting of seven spans, the viaduct crosses Highfurlong Brook’s floodplain at a height of around 9m. Each span is made up of four beams weighing up to 56 tonnes, which were lifted into position last year to form the backbone of the structure. Scott Corsar MCIHT, EKFB’s Project Manager said: “We have achieved many ‘firsts’ with Highfurlong Viaduct, from the first viaduct to have its full deck installed to the first structurally complete viaduct on the HS2 programme following the recent installation of 136 parapets. “This would not have been possible without the hard work, consistency and collaboration of everyone involved with the structure, from our designers down to our operatives out on site.” Eiffage in UK Eiffage Génie Civil Kier Transportation Ferrovial Construction BAM UK & Ireland Arcadis setec COWI Moxon Architects Ltd. #ExceptionalTogether #OneTeam #HighfurlongBrook
We've completed our first viaduct 😮 🎥👇. The 163m long Highfurlong Brook Viaduct, near the village of Aston le Walls, is one of more than 50 being built as part of the new rail project. Consisting of seven spans, the viaduct crosses Highfurlong Brook’s floodplain at a height of around 9m. Each span is made up of four beams weighing up to 56 tonnes, which were lifted into position last year to form the backbone of the structure. Each of the beams – which are up to 25m long - were manufactured off site before being delivered over night to reduce disruption for local road users. The deck – which will support the track and electrical systems – was poured in situ earlier this year, with the parapets along either side manufactured off site and installed over the last four months. HS2's 'green tunnels' with cut-and-cover designs and plants on top act as a natural drainage system, reducing flooding and helping trains run during heavy rainfall. 🌧️🚄 #HS2 #GreenInfrastructure

Last week, our Training and Engagement Manager, Magdalena, volunteered at the Aylesbury Pace Centre as part of Eiffage Kier Ferrovial BAM (EKFB) to create a well-being space for the staff and children🌿🌼 Throughout the day, they collectively worked on constructing and beautifying the garden, which included the installation of a new pergola and shed. We are honoured to be part of creating a nurturing environment for the centre's community🌞 #CommunityEngagement #Volunteering #Wellbeing #ReliableContractors

It's been an eight-month journey, but Wendover Dean’s slide up the Chilterns is finally complete! 💨 Back in January we shared the news that our HS2 joint-venture team Eiffage Kier Ferrovial BAM (EKFB) began the operation for the viaduct, in what would be an epic movement for the 450-metre deck. We’ve concluded the process with the release of some fantastic timelapse footage that captured every step of the way from ‘just’ the initial 590 tonne movement to a hefty 3,700 tonnes by the time it reached the end, with all sections eventually added. With the steelwork now in position, engineers can begin the challenging job of lowering the deck onto the permanent bearings which will support the full weight of the structure. Once in its final position, work can begin on the concrete that will support the railway and will be followed by the installation of the parapets along the edge of the viaduct. #Infrastructure #HS2 #Rail #Engineering #Construction https://lnkd.in/dRyfgWWJ

We’re delighted to have completed the deck slide at the Wendover Dean Viaduct! 🎉 The Wendover Dean Viaduct is the first major railway bridge in the UK to be built with a ‘double composite’ structure, which uses significantly less carbon-intensive concrete and steel than a more traditional design. Senior Agent, James Collings, said: “The final launch for Wendover Dean viaduct marks two years of teamwork from EKFB and our supply chain partners Eiffage Metal. I am very proud of our progress and would like to thank the team for their ongoing commitment to the safe delivery of the viaduct. Over the next three months, we will see the viaduct lowered onto its permanent bearings in preparation for its concrete deck.” Eiffage in UK Kier Transportation Ferrovial Construction BAM UK & Ireland Eiffage Métal #ExceptionalTogether #OneTeam #WendoverDeanViaduct
We've completed the Wendover Dean Viaduct deck slide 🤩 ✅. Stretching for 450m, the deck was assembled in three stages, ranging from 90m to 180m, with each one pushed out from the north abutment before the next section was attached behind it. This eight-month long process meant that the weight of the deck increased with each push, up from an initial 590 tonnes at the start of work in January - to 3,700 tonnes by the time it reached the south abutment on Saturday.
