One week on from the Gippsland New Energy Conference, and we’re still buzzing with excitement! It was fantastic to connect with community members, industry leaders, and Victorian Government delivery agencies. Along with ENGIE AU, we were thrilled to share insights about the #Hazelwood Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), which marks a major milestone as Australia’s (and Gippsland’s) first operational BESS located at a former coal-fired power station site. A special thank you to Hon Chris Bowen MP for announcing the first round of the Capacity Investment Scheme tender results. Great things are on the horizon for Gippsland, and we are excited to be part of the region’s new energy future! To find out more about our #Hazelwood #BESS please go to https://lnkd.in/gKtay9Ue #Gippsland #NewEnergy #BESS #RenewableEnergy #EnergyTransition

Exciting news from Eku Energy! We've successfully commissioned the Maldon Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Essex, our first UK project to reach commercial operation. Strategically located near London, the Maldon BESS, constructed by Trina Storage and supported by leading independent connection provider (ICP), ESM Power Ltd, boasts a capacity of 40MW/40MWh. This project provides flexibility and resilience to UK Power Networks and supports the integration of more renewable energy.  As we celebrate this milestone, we're continuing to grow our footprint and help the UK achieve its Net Zero goals. 🎤 We like big batteries and we cannot lie! 🎤 With a nod to 90's hip hop, the session title says it all. At tomorrow's Gippsland New Energy Conference, I’ll be joining industry leaders from the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations, SEC Victoria and EnergyAustralia to discuss how utility-scale BESS are supporting Gippsland's new energy future. Together with our partner, ENGIE AU, we’ll delve into the role of the Hazelwood Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). As Gippsland’s first utility-scale BESS, Hazelwood BESS is paving the way for the region's energy transition, located at the decommissioned Hazelwood Power Station. Looking forward to saying Hi and continuing the conversation! 💡🔋 #gnec2024 #GippslandNewEnergy #BESS #EnergyTransition #HazelwoodBESS #ekuenergy #ENGIEAU #RenewableEnergy #Gippsland

The energy transition is more than a step change in technology; it also provides numerous opportunities to positively affect peoples’ lives. Last Saturday, Rachel Rundle and Pete Scott from our team at Eku Energy had the great pleasure to attend one of the (no doubt!) biggest events in the racing calendar of Victoria - the race at Sandown of the #Victorian Human Powered Vehicle Grand Prix series - supporting the wonderful team from Cranbourne West Primary School. As part of our 200MW/400MWh #Rangebank BESS Community Grants Program delivered in partnership with Shell Energy, we are proud to have the opportunity to support a range of community organisations giving back in the City of Casey Local Government Area. This includes supporting the amazing students and teacher leaders at Cranbourne West Primary School who have expanded their Human Powered Vehicle team and vehicles! We do this because we do not just develop the infrastructure for a better #energyfuture; we are also creating a better future for the next generation. Supporting local schools and #STEM programs for up-and-coming engineers and scientists is very close to our heart here at Eku Energy. Seeing the big smiles of the students and knowing that this support instils a greater interest in maths and science certainly is also an important part of the #energytransition. We’ve got our fingers crossed for the fourth and final race on October 19!

Today is a day for celebration – Eku Energy reached financial close for our first project in Japan. There are certain major milestones to hit until a utility scale battery energy storage system is ready to support the grid and be a major contributor to the #energytransition. Financial close is certainly one of those. As today shows, we are on track to hit all future milestones as planned to ensure the 30MW/120MWh BESS, located in #Hirohara, Miyazaki City, Miyazaki Prefecture, will supply #TokyoGas with safe, secure and reliable electricity in 2026. We are very pleased to be partnering with Kinden Corporation as well as #LooopInc and #FortecArchitects on construction and MUFG on the project financing of the #Hirohara #BESS. Huge congratulations to Kentaro Ono, Hirofumi Sho and our entire Eku Energy team in Japan.

Collaboration. Shared learnings. Getting on with it. Those three aspects seem to be the common theme here at today’s Smart Energy Council Conference in #Sydney to accelerate the #energy #transition in order to 🚀 speed up the development of transmission lines that are fit for purpose 🚀 fast track the approval processes for projects to get more generation and storage online to hit #Australia’s emissions reductions targets Big shout out to Gina Zheng, Business Development Manager here at Eku Energy for her contributions to the panel discussions together with others from Tesla, Fluence and Sungrow Power Supply Co., Ltd. And thanks to John Grimes and Wayne Smith for yet again putting together a great conference with insightful discussions!

It's the one-year #anniversary of an iconic project - the Hazelwood #Battery. It is iconic for two reasons: 1. #Hazelwood is the first operational #BESS for us at Eku Energy where we had the great privilege to partner with ENGIE and Fluence, and 2. It marks #realchange and a huge step towards creating new energy system that takes advantage of the abundance of #renewables to benefit energy consumers in Victoria, all by using existing infrastructure of a retired coal-fired power station. Thank you ENGIE for going back in time to celebrate this milestone and for being a great partner together with Fluence on this project - what a tremendous event we hosted together to mark the occasion! Helping decarbonise electricity, firm renewables and advocating for our climate

It's not everyday you get given a mic to chat to a room of over 900 people about some of your favourite topics! 🙌 It was a real privilege to share my thoughts at #AustralianCleanEnergySummit2024's Women in Renewables lunch on a net zero by 2050 world. By 2050, I hope that we no longer need to have WiR clean energy events because our natural state would be one filled with a diversity of thought (read: thought, not gender! Because this is what this is really about). But we're a long way away in Aus, which recent stats Workplace Gender Equality Agency released made clear. In the electricity sector, women represent 30% of the total workforce. Women also represent only 18% of the total workforce’s total renumeration upper quartile, however fair more equally at 49% in the total renumeration lower quartile. 📈 Systemic change does not happen by accident, so we have a long way to go ✊🏽 Diversity of thought is critical to facilitating this energy transition and achieving net zero. So, I reiterate what I said today. To all my ladies out there, please give yourself permission (be entitled!) to be your full authentic selves. And, men, please ask yourselves: how can I be more self-aware of the power systems (pun only half intended!) and subtle nuances in my workplace to create a culture that welcomes a diversity of thought?💡 Thank you Julia Souder for being an amazing and supportive co-panellist and to Ashleigh Dalmau & the Clean Energy Council for giving us the space to be our full authentic selves and share our thoughts. Here's to more women lifting each other up, and to each and every one of us being our honest and authentic selves 🤘🏽🤘🏽🥳 #ACES2024 #cleanenergy #renewableenergy
