ELECTRICITY LAWYER (EL): GREENWASHING IN AFRICA’S CROSS-BORDER RENEWABLE ENERGY PROJECTS – LEGAL CHALLENGES, ENFORCEMENT GAPS & POLICY RECOMMENDATIONS Electricity Lawyer is pleased to present a critical analysis of greenwashing in Africa’s cross-border renewable energy projects, focusing on the legal challenges, enforcement gaps, and necessary policy reforms. As global and regional energy markets push for sustainability, many corporations are overstating their renewable energy commitments—undermining climate goals, investor confidence, and legal accountability. Weak enforcement mechanisms and regulatory loopholes allow companies to market projects as "clean energy" despite opaque supply chains, carbon offset misrepresentations, and inadequate compliance with environmental laws. With African nations increasingly integrating ESG principles into their legal and regulatory frameworks, closing enforcement gaps is essential to prevent misleading sustainability claims and ensure a genuine, just energy transition. To explore these insights and recommendations, click on the document above. The report and other analyses are also available on the EL website at https://lnkd.in/eZXRbczR Follow Electricity Lawyer and hit the bell 🔔 icon for more expert insights on global energy law and policy. #ElectricityLawyer #Greenwashing #RenewableEnergy #EnergyLaw #ESG #Sustainability #ClimateAccountability
