RubberGard EPDM was the roofing solution carefully selected for the £2M redevelopment of The Batsford Arboretum and Garden Centre in 2011. Located on the Cotswolds nature reserve, the iconic site is host to England’s largest private collection of trees and plants from across the globe. The regeneration project included the construction of a garden shop, terrace café and a distinctive ‘wave’ roof design inspired by the rolling hills of the Cotswolds, while simultaneously prioritising sustainability. The roofing system was required to be lightweight and flexible to adapt to the curves of the unique, waved design of the custom plywood roof deck. RubberGard EPDM, a flexible single-ply roofing membrane, was specified for the project and fully adhered to the roof. Alongside the product’s impressive waterproofing qualities and longevity, it also enhances the sustainability of the project. RubberGard EPDM’s life expectancy spans over 50 years and does not release toxic substances into the environment.
