Massive thank you to Kamila and Alba, who ran the RoyalParks Half for Ella’s this month and raised a whopping £1,400 to support survivors of trafficking and exploitation.       Kamila Serrano and Alba Baeza (pictured) got to know Ella’s through their work with TradeBridge who support us as a business. So thank you Louise Young (FCIM), Nabila M. and Team Tradebridge, too!       ‘I had the most beautiful experience, the run, the people cheering us, and the atmosphere was gorgeous,’ says Kamila. ‘I’m definitely in for more challenges! It's a pleasure to help such an important cause.’      If you’d like to take up a challenge for Ella’s in 2025, email us at info@ellas.org.uk to register your interest early or watch this space for more 👀      #thankyou #fundraisers #royalparkshalf

This time last year, we were overjoyed to win in the Rebuilding Lives category at the Anti-Slavery Day Awards. This week, we were overjoyed to be part of the awards again, with our Co-Director Emily Chalke on the judging panel.       These awards, put on by The Human Trafficking Foundation with Marsh Charitable Trust, are so inspiring; a hugely encouraging reminder that there are so many brilliant people, so many amazing projects hard at work to stop modern slavery and empower survivors. Just a couple of them are pictured here in Emily’s photos from the event: STOP THE TRAFFIK Group Bramber Bakehouse and playwright Mende Nazer. Huge shoutout to all of this year’s truly fantastic nominees and winners. And to everyone out there sharing, giving, acting, speaking out to to stop modern slavery and exploitation 🙌      #antislaveryday #antislaveryweek #hope #change

⚠️ Learn to spot the signs this Anti Slavery Week ⚠️  Trafficking and modern slavery can be hidden in plain sight: houses, flats, factories, car washes, building sites…places in your neighbourhood that you might walk past every day. It can be in our schools, workplaces, GP surgeries and hospitals. It can affect people from the UK as well as those from other countries, people who are rich, poor or somewhere in between 💔   Here are some things to look out for, and what to do if you have concerns:   -Indicators of physical or mental abuse, such as cuts and bruises, visible anxiety and nervousness of speaking to other people, little eye contact or low self esteem  - Debt and limited or no access to money - People regularly displaying limited movements   - People isolated from their local community and service providers. Those who don’t do much socially, and/or have a lot of health issues or absences from work   - People who are frequently seen with an individual or group that they seem uncomfortable with  - Houses/flats that seem to contain multiple people, especially women, with frequent comings and goings  - People constantly guarded or accompanied - Workers appearing to do long hours and lacking adequate equipment eg protective clothing - Workers accompanied to and from work places in groups  - Lack of passport and other legal documents   - People sleeping where they work, or with no fixed address    If you have concerns, or if you’re aware of someone who might have been trafficked or exploited, don’t wait to act. You’re highly unlikely to get a victim into trouble if you take action. Rather, you could save their life. If there is immediate danger, call or text 999. If it’s someone you know, reach out and ask if they’re ok. To report a concern, or if you are affected by these issues, contact the Modern Slavery Helpline on 0800 0121 700 or modernslaveryhelpline.org    #antislaveryweek #antitrafficking

‘I feel like I can finally breathe,’ said Ardy, when she moved into our brand new safe house, a two-bed flat in London obtained and beautifully refurbished thanks to WISH (the Women in Safe Homes fund) with Resonance Limited and Patron Capital Ardy is a survivor of modern slavery and violence, and was living in a cold attic with no amenities before she moved in.       Ardy loves her new home. It has a balcony - ‘I can have a cup of tea here’ she said when she saw it - and is in a safe, peaceful neighbourhood. Ardy says she is overcome with relief and so thankful.       Ardy has been through a lot of trauma over a prolonged period, but now she can rest and begin to recover, and build a better future. Thank you WISH and to every supporter helping to make this possible. You are unlocking freedom among women who have survived more than most people could even imagine.      It’s Anti-Slavery Week, a time to raise awareness of the crime of modern slavery affecting more than 30 million women and girls like Ardy worldwide. Please read, share, talk, act and give this week to support survivors like Ardy and stop modern slavery  ⛓️💥    #antislaveryweek #modernslavery #vawg #women #survivors
