Ian Donegan Leaves EPR in Safe Hands 🤝 In September, our Elliotts Premier Roofing Director, Ian Donegan MIoR, suffered with some health issues, and whilst he is healing well, it’s had an impact on his capacity to work and even affected his trip to Cyprus, which, if you know Ian, is his favourite time of the year! As a result, Ian has decided to prioritise his health and time with his family and will retire working for Elliotts Premier Roofing on the 24th of December this year. We know so many of our EPR customers have a great relationship with Ian, so in the meantime, he and Sam Starmore, our Operations Director, will meet to hand everything over. A Decade of Dedication And now, we want to celebrate Ian's incredible journey at EPR... joining as a contracts manager back in 2013, he focused on the pitched business, and by 2015 he was running the pitched department! Ian took some time out in 2017 to relocate to Cyprus, relaxing and working on his brilliant tan, with the pitched department continuing under his remote unofficial supervision. But in the summer of 2017, our CEO, Tom Elliott, picked up the phone to Ian, leading to a secret meeting in Heathrow, and asked if Ian would come back and run EPR with immediate effect... as you know, the answer was yes, and Ian stepped in to run EPR from that point, and the turnaround began. The first challenge for Ian was to tackle flat roofing jobs that were too far away, poorly managed, and poorly priced, which he dealt with head-on, and over subsequent years, he turned EPR into a profitable business! Over the last 3 years in particular, Ian has recruited for the EPR team well, and with an eye on the future, he's built a strong management team. He has also brought through a successor in Sam, who will build on Ian’s work and lead the growth of EPR going forward. Speaking to Ian, he said, "I'm really emotional about leaving, and this has come sooner than I expected. It's the right decision for me, but I'm pleased to say I leave EPR in really good health. It is up to thrive under Sam's leadership with a great management team in place. I will miss everyone and hope you'll come and take me out for lunch every now and again." And Paul Chadwick, our Chief Operating Officer, said of Ian leaving, "I hope that Ian focuses on getting fit so that he's around for a long time to see those granddaughters grow up. I am personally thankful for what Ian has achieved in the last 8 years - taking the business from losing money to making a good return with a leadership team in place to push on further. We will miss the Scouse Beyoncé but look forward to seeing him at harvest time for his latest fruit and veg!" We hope you'll join us in wishing Ian all the best for the future!
