♻In the last of our Recycling Week posts, we’re celebrating the work EMERGE Recycling does across Greater Manchester and further afield. EMERGE Recycling is a local and ethical solution to your recyclable waste problems. EMERGE Recycling has been supporting One + All with recycling services since January 2020. The services we provide them are: • baled cardboard collections • ad hoc food waste collections • weekly collections of their internal office recycling, cans, paper, cardboard & plastic bottles • confidential waste • ICT secure disposal & other waste electrical All of the segregated waste streams collected are kept separate to avoid cross contamination. They’re then brought back to our depot at New Smithfield Market for processing. Items are baled and sent to our local mills and reprocessors to be recycled back into further reusable products. EMERGE sends One + All a certificate showing them the amount of Co2 they have saved by real recycling as well as how they have helped us deliver local social value. ♻ During Recycling Week, we're highlighting the amazing work within the EMERGE 3Rs collective – today, we’re focusing on FareShare Greater Manchester's efforts to reduce food waste. Through their partnership with GXO Logistics, Inc., 13.9 tonnes of surplus food was donated last year, helping local communities and boosting sustainability. GXO even provided freezer storage, saving large donations from going to waste. Last year alone, they saved 600 tonnes of wood from waste, reusing 72% in impactful projects like this outdoor wellbeing space at Siemens Energy in Manchester. From scaffold boards to old whiskey barrels and even parts of the Manchester Velodrome track, they upcycled materials to create planters, seating, and a pergola that can be enjoyed year-round!
