Well it’s official September has absolutely smashed our current record for orders placed in a single month. Everyone at The Eminent Group has been working hard since the start of our calendar year (July) to ensure the company continues its growth on both our recruitment and fabrication divisions and records have been smashed. September orders in fabrication £610,000 September charges for recruitment £560 per hour (inbound sales only) Great effort by everyone involved. Now time to deliver all the projects and we thank all our clients for their support.

Another tough week for the construction industry. Main contractor ISG filing for administration across 5 divisions is going to be tough for everyone involved and will cause huge job loses across the UK, estimated to be over 3000. While my company hasn’t been affected by the news I’m certain a lot of my clients will have been. But I do have my own thoughts on this First one being, on one of my clients sites we were supplying labour to. The lads went to work as normal and the site was closed at the end of the shift, not a single mention of the administration pending. So how can a company of that size not know prior to the afternoon they were going into administration? Surely they would have known the current situation and had several conversations about the possible outcome of the business, these decisions are not made in an afternoon. Second is, imagine how many companies have been chasing payments for weeks if not months while being palmed off with excuse after excuse and not receiving payments, surely people at the highest level of ISG would have known the situation and I can guarantee not a single sub contractor was given a hint of the pending decisions. And lastly, I see a lot of companies reaching out offering assistance to the people who have lost their jobs, which is absolutely brilliant, BUT. Let’s not forget that some of these people who are looking for new roles will be the same people who have stringed along plenty of people and putting people’s livelihoods at risk all over the country. I know this post will divide opinions across LinkedIn, people who have not listened to anything will see this as an insensitive post, while companies who have could have or are about to lose everything will agree with it. Let’s hope that all the senior contracts managers, contract managers and QSs who have unfortunately found themselves unemployed at the drop of a hat, now have a different perspective, approach dealings with accounts and pay in the future with a more compassionate appreciation of our livelihoods. It’s a another terrible week in construction, a terrible loss of employment across the UK and I’m sure the whole industry will feel the affects for a long time.

At the beginning of 2022 we decided to restructure the business due to some serious issues caused by a 3rd party, as we had to close our main company Eminent GRP ltd that had been trading since 2015. Due to the issues we looked at separating the business into separate registered companies Eminent Grp fabrications Ltd Eminent Grp recruitment Ltd Both companies started trading in may 2022 and our financial year ended in June, so a short year. 2023 was our first full year with the new structure and with some invaluable assistance from LBW Chartered Accountants we set about looking at the future. We also enlisted a financial adviser in Ian Atkinson to oversee the transition. Our first full year was modest, not bad for a lad who a few years ago was on the tools. Recruitment inbound sales of over 680k Fabrication sales of just under 990k Decent profits on each business at the end of each year are ending in June. I’m am pleased to say that this week we have secured two huge projects for our fabrication business worth over 500k, adding that to our orders raised in July and August takes this years revenue to about £780,000 for the first three months of our financial year. And our recruitment business has also seen a huge increase in sales. In total we have secured close to 80% of last years revenue in fabrication in the first three months of this financial year and recruitment has more than doubled its monthly sales and that should continue until may next year with current projects and two possible orders in fabrication for over £1.2m combined to follow and will hopefully see us working in Saudi Arabia in the near future. I can only thank the people who have supported the company through the last 2 years, they have been the toughest I have ever endured, and the best thing I ever did was ask seek assistance for the business. Thank you to the whole team at Eminent who have been through the tough times and all the laughter with me, if it wasn’t for the great people around me I don’t know if i would still be doing what I love. The next chapter of the business is edging closer, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for me personally and the company. To any company owner feeling like they are stuck and need assistance I highly recommend speaking to Ian Atkinson for advice. Having and expert take a look at your business from the outside can highlight some easy changes that can turn your business around in months.

𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙟𝙤𝙮𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙗𝙚𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖 𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙧𝙪𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙧 So recently we had a client request a pipe fitter and welder on site for 6 weeks. As agreed on his T&Cs weekly payments would be required first week we received a payment then no other payment racking up a 22k bill for labour. 5 weeks after the lads had finished we were chasing invoices. Here’s where the fun starts I received a very angry phone call off the client were his language was extremely colourful and accused our labour on site of fraudulently signing timesheets that hours were incorrect and we as a company was robbing him blind (something we take very seriously) 𝙀𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙞𝙣𝙫𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙜𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 We investigate these claims by the client and actually find out that the site supervisor wasn’t on site most days and had agreed to sign off the hours via WhatsApp with our site teams and was happy for the contractors to sign them off on his behalf once approved by himself. We brought this evidence to the client and was ignored and no apology was given. Second issue I receive another angry message and phone call stating my labour has been robbing the client by adding their food and drink bill to the room and client demanded we pay him back immediately. 𝙀𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙞𝙣𝙫𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙜𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 We investigate these claims that our contractors have been adding their food and drink to the clients hotel account. Only once again to find out that they contractor asked for the bill to pay it himself and once he found out the bill was added to the room account he contacted the clients supervisor to ask for the bank details so he could pay the bill immediately, once again the evidence was issues to the client and we was ignored and no apology given And the last issue After 6 weeks of welding on site it seems one of the pipes has a small leak and needed to be rewelded on one weld, according to the client the shit welding of the lads is beyond a joke and wants money for the works (prob about 15 minutes) According to the client he won’t be using us again because we are a joke and it’s been a painful experience using Eminent. Like most romance films, this has a happy ending we got paid in full and we have taken the client off our client list, happy outcome for all involved. 𝘽𝙪𝙩 𝙡𝙚𝙩’𝙨 𝙜𝙚𝙩 𝙖 𝙘𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙧 𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 1. If you’re going to ring me up with abusive language down the phone, please hang up and quickly Google our address I would much rather be abused and swore at to my face. 2. The contractors who work for me have done so for a very long time, I know them and trust them. Please make sure you’re 100% certain of the claims before calling me and swearing down the phone. 3. If you can’t afford to pay for labour as agreed in your T&Cs don’t use our services, we are not Bernardo’s and not here to finance your own labour for your own jobs. The joys of recruitment 🤣 (Company details and names removed)
