COP28 - Day 4: Making climate finance available, accessible, and affordable to vulnerable countries EnableGreen applauds the two innovative financial mechanism commitments made on Day 4 of the COP28: #1 France, the UK, World Bank, Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), European Investment Bank (EIB), European Bank of Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), African Development Bank (AfDB) made new commitments to expand Climate-Resilient Debt Clauses (CRDCs) in their lending. In total, 73 countries joined a call to action for donors to expand the use of these clauses by 2025. CRDCs serve primarily as a short-term liquidity support mechanism in vulnerable countries. They offer borrowing countries a crucial fiscal space to support climate action after severe climate-induced or natural disasters to redirect financial resources from servicing their debts towards tackling the loss and damage resulting from climate change and natural calamities. #2 Japan and France will pledge to the African Development Bank (AfDB) and Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) to leverage IMF Special Drawing Rights for climate and development. 🌱🌊🌞 #COP28 #ClimateAction #Sustainability #Resilience #ClimateFinance https://lnkd.in/dWVxhVxF
