Join our volunteer team! We’re pleased to share that dates for Volunteer induction days for 2024/25 are now live on our website! If you have lived experience of diagnosed or suspected endometriosis and you’d like to support others with the disease, we’d love to hear from you. Here’s what you need to know… Support Network volunteers offer 2-3 hours of their time each week to provide support and information, they help to connect people and raise awareness of endometriosis. In return volunteers can expect to receive good quality induction training and access to ongoing training and support. Volunteers can claim expenses they incur whilst volunteering for Endometriosis UK and can request a reference when they have been volunteering for 6 months or more. Interested? Did you know that Endometriosis UK’s support groups, helpline, web chat and online forum on HealthUnlocked are all run by trained volunteers? This incredible bunch all have lived experience of endometriosis and give their time to support others with the disease. THIS WEEK: The next two webinars in our Menstrual Health at Work series will take place this week on Wednesday and Thursday. This series is aimed at employers and workplace representatives looking to make their workplace more supportive for employees with menstrual health conditions. In these webinar sessions, you’ll learn more about the impact of menstrual health in the workplace and practical tips for creating a more supportive working environment. Take Action 📢 The Government has introduced a new Employment Rights Bill and we need your help to ensure it includes measures to support those with endometriosis. With one in six workers with endometriosis having to leave the workforce due to their condition, it’s vital that the Government steps in to help those with the disease thrive at work. Endometriosis costs the UK economy £8.2bn per year from loss of work and healthcare costs. This is an issue the Government and employers cannot afford to ignore. We want to see: ❗️Menopause action plans extended to cover all those impacted by menstrual health conditions like endometriosis. ❗️Legistlation to ensure workers with menstrual health conditions are treated fairly if they need short but intermittent time off work, as a result of their condition. Write to your MP today and urge them to support our recommendations to change the Employment Rights Bill so it supports those with menstrual health conditions at work. 18th October is recognised worldwide as 'World Menopause Day', a day to raise awareness of menopause and highlight support options. We have information on endometriosis and the menopause available on our website, including a webinar with Dr Haitham Hamoda, Consultant Gynaecologist and Dr Nitish Narvekar Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist, discussing both chemical and natural menopause, the impact of the menopause on endometriosis, self management and medical pathways. You did it! We’re absolutely thrilled to have surpassed our target of £20,000 in this year’s Big Give Women and Girls Match Fund campaign! Your donations will help us to further our work on a brand new nurse-led helpline service, launching in 2025. This service will be run entirely by endometriosis specialist nurses, providing medically informed information and support for women and those assigned female at birth with suspected or diagnosed endometriosis. We look forward to sharing further updates with you on this much needed new service, but for now, we’d like to say a huge thank you from everyone at Endometriosis UK for your incredible support.
