Nicolas KATCHAROV, CEO of Energean International, recently highlighted the crucial role of the #energy sector in driving #socioeconomic development in Egypt during a panel discussion at the prestigious #MOC - Mediterranean Offshore Conference. The multifaceted value of the energy value chain cannot be overstated. It’s not just about being a significant employer. A secure supply of domestically produced energy is vital for keeping the lights on and supporting #economicgrowth and diversification in #Egypt. However, for this potential to be fully realized, there is an urgent need for strong and transparent policies. #Oil and #gas discoveries are only valuable with a clear strategy for utilization. Maintaining global investors' confidence in Egypt's vision for the energy sector is essential for continued investment. Nicolas emphasized the importance of a pragmatic approach, blending long-term planning with day-to-day improvements. Simple solutions can lead to effective outcomes, as demonstrated by Energean's success in Israel with the Karish project, which has delivered secure and competitively priced gas. For Egypt to leverage its significant potential across the entire energy value chain, a structured long-term vision is essential. This vision should encompass #energysecurity, #netzero goals, and affordability, whilst also clarifying the rationale behind subsidies, future pricing, and the integration of energy products into broader economic frameworks. Let’s work together to create a sustainable and prosperous energy future for Egypt. Paddy Blewer, Caroline Hegazi, MBA, Sotiris Chiotakis

At Energean, we believe in the power of community and the importance of giving back. Today, we are proud to shine a spotlight on our colleague, Mary Vastardi from Athens (Business Solutions), who has made a remarkable impact as a #bonemarrow donor. Every year, over 250,000 people worldwide are diagnosed with blood cancer, and finding a compatible donor can be incredibly challenging. The odds of finding a match outside of family can be as low as 1 in 1,000,000. That’s why Mary’s commitment to helping others is so inspiring. Recently, Mary was recognized as a bone marrow donor at a special event hosted by Athens College, organized by “Xarise Zoi,” “Floga,” and Choose Life. At this event, she had the opportunity to meet dedicated individuals and courageous children who are fighting against cancer. Mary shared her experience, saying: “Meeting these amazing individuals reminded me of the importance of supporting one another and finding joy in life’s simplest moments. The chance to meet the people whose lives have been saved was a powerful reminder of the life-changing impact that donations can have.” We are grateful to organizations like “Xarise Zoi,” which raises awareness and facilitates donor-recipient matches, “Floga,” which supports children with cancer and their families, and “Choose Life”, raises awareness and increases the volunteer bone marrow donor base. At Energean, we are committed to supporting our communities in line with the #UNSDG No. 3 for “Good Health and Well-Being.” With ambassadors like Mary leading the way, we are inspired to continue making a positive difference in the world. Join us in celebrating Mary and all the heroes who dedicate their lives to helping others

At EnEarth, we are totally committed to winning and maintaining the good will of the communities that host our operations. The Prinos #CO2 Storage facility, is a regionally significant infrastructure development project that will exceed 1 billion euros of investment when fully developed. The largest industrial investment in Greece, #PrinosCO2 will bring significant benefits to Europe, supporting regional #decarbonization targets. It will also create value for the local communities of the region, as part of EnEarth’s regional decarbonization hub. The hub is focused on Prinos CO2, and will include additional complementary projects such as the recently announced Direct Air Capture & Storage project with RepAir Carbon Capture. Ahead of the launch of the official public consultation on the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment of the project, we co-organised an engagement and information meeting with the relevant regional authorities. The key characteristics of the Prinos CO2 Storage project and the benefits for the local communities were presented by Mrs. Sofia Stamataki, former Professor of the School of Mining and Metallurgical Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens, while Mr. Kostis Nikolopoulos, Head of LDK Group in the Environment and Water Sectors, presented the parameters and all the provisions and measures that ensure the safe and effective operation of the project that have been included in the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment. The 4th edition of the ICM Forum recently took place at Pau, France, co-hosted by the European Commission and the French Ministry of Energy. Dr Katerina Sardi and Dr. Pantelis Vogiatzis represented Energean & EnEarth at the forum. Dr Sardi presented the Prinos CO2 Storage Project in a workshop: "What level of interoperability and interconnections do we expect in the future European #CO2 network (local, regional, pan-European)?". EnEarth has and will continue to move forwards rapidly, ensuring that all the necessary actions to secure the storage permit and the environmental license provided by the European and Greek legislations are in place. Dr Sardi also stressed that, despite #CCS being a top priority for EU, there are still substantial challenges to be overcome. Lack of technical capacity, lack of resources to address the development of these projects, highly complex supply chains and finally procedures that are yet to be fully established. "We have to remember that there are 3 Directorates General involved for the Prinos CO2 Storage project - namely ENER, CLIMA and Competition", she emphasized. Dr Sardi concluded by flagging the need of close cooperation at all levels (chain, country, Europe) to meet 2030 targets Sotiris Chiotakis Paddy Blewer

Empowering the Next Generation of Geoscientists. We are thrilled to have sponsored the Egypt Student Field Camp (ESFC) 2024, where we helped equip young geoscientists with the skills needed to tackle the future of #sustainableenergy. This year’s camp focused on assessing the Abu Qir offshore area as a potential carbon dioxide storage site — a key step towards cleaner energy solutions. With guidance from our expert team, including Manlio Mazzarelli, Caroline Hegazi, MBA, Riccardo Rosati, and others, participants dove deep into geophysical studies, marine assessments, and evaluated the environmental impacts of #carbonstorage. Armed with cutting-edge 3D seismic data and real-world applications, these young minds delivered insightful recommendations for future development plans. We're proud to support initiatives that bridge the gap between academia and industry while advancing innovative solutions for a sustainable future. A big thank you to everyone involved in making this collaboration a success. Together, we’re shaping the future of #energy. https://lnkd.in/dPB5wSCb

Last Friday, the International Energy Agency (IEA) published a report that can make one think fondly of the “golden age of #gas”. Global gas demand is on the rise. Natural gas is and will remain for the foreseeable future, the major guarantor of global #energysecurity. The report also demonstrates the core #energy security value of domestic or at least regionally available gas production and regional infrastructure such as interconnectors. Energean has and will remain committed to rapid development of proven reserves towards production. Our interests are aligned with the sovereign and population. European #energypolicy makers might want to consider both energy security and the socio-economic value of heavy industry when considering gas / CCS related energy policy. Nikolas Rigas, Head of Carbon Storage at EnEarth recently took the stage at two major events in Athens — The 14th Capital Link Shipping Forum and the Global CCS Institute's Capacity Building Workshop. His core messages were simple: Urgency and collaboration are vital to driving Greece’s industrial future and combating the climate crisis. At the heart of his speech was the Prinos CO2 Storage project. Prinos CO2 is crucial for decarbonizing Greece’s hard-to-abate industries. With rising CO2 emission costs and the European Commission's Net Zero Industry Act, it’s clear: we need carbon capture and storage to underwrite thousands of industrial jobs across the continent. But the clock is ticking. A solution requires a united front: *Government must accelerate policies. *Industry must invest in emissions capture. *Authorities need to streamline regulation. *Operators and transporters must be in sync. “If even one link fails, the whole chain collapses,” Nikolas warned. EnEarth has already taken action, submitting a storage permit and Environmental Impact Assessment for Prinos. Now it’s about keeping momentum, ensuring bureaucracy doesn’t become a barrier to progress. https://www.enearth.earth/ Katerina Sardi Paddy Blewer Sotiris Chiotakis
