Energy Volunteers reposted this
😎 Monday morning thoughts!😎 If you have ever noticed something called a "CRC charge" included in the utilities section of your service charge budget it may be worth digging a little deeper as to what this cost relates to. The Carbon Reduction Commitment Energy Efficiency Scheme (CRC) scheme was designed to improve energy efficiency and cut carbon dioxide emissions in private and public sector organisations that are high energy users. It was discontinued by the UK government in March 2019. Many companies are required to continue to report consumption and energy efficiency actions up until the end of 2024. While some costs of the scheme could be passed through to occupiers via the service charge, the RICS Professional Standard on Service Charges in Commercial Property outlines some best practice principles in this area. Costs relating to an owner's management and administration of the scheme should not be passed through to occupiers. So any costs related to the reporting requirements under the scheme may be recoverable! Drop us a message if you'd like to know more about how we can help you better understand your lease costs! #servicecharges #realestate #Leasecosts

It was a privilege to present at The Leathersellers Link & Learn event at Leathersellers' Hall in March 2024. I took part in a panel discussion, moderated by Natalia Rymaszewska, and presented to a number of grantees about the services and resources offered through Energy Volunteers. There were many questions from the audience and some good discussion around sustainability, NetZero and energy management. From this event, I will definitely be developing a webinar around lease management and potential energy savings for charities (peppercorn, fag end, meanwhile use...!). A big thank you to Stacey Lamb and the Leathersellers' team for giving me this opportunity. Looking forward to next steps! 📢 #charity #energyefficiency #volunteers #sustainability #netzero
Thanks to all of our grantees, guests, and fellow funders who attended this year's Link & Learn event at Leathersellers' Hall. The topics and themes covered during a Link & Learn event come directly from speaking with our grantees and understanding what areas would be most beneficial for them. This year focused on sustainability, featuring topics on supporting and retaining staff, and energy sustainability, with case studies, resources, and panellists: Dan Hall, The Listening Place; Tristan Shirley, Prospectus; Katie Buckingham, Altruist Enterprises; Ed Simpson, The Harrow Club; Geraldine Page, City Bridge Foundation; Sharon Rich, TRELYA, and Bryan O'Regan CEng CEM, Energy Volunteers. There was also an opportunity to meet the funders. We welcomed panellists: Clare Cannock, The Henry Smith Charity; Rosy Phillips, The Clothworkers' Foundation; Clare McGread, Buttle UK; Matt Keane, John Lyon's Charity; and Rachel Marshall, Lloyds Bank Foundation for England and Wales. Thanks all so much for a great day of collaboration and shared learning. #charity #grantfunding
