Neuroscience is helping us to understand so much more than we did. Though nature and nurture still prevails in shaping our brains and ultimately our lives as an individual and as a society. Adversity builds resilience, too much adversity, breaks brains, possibly in later life. Neuroplasticity, the right home environment and interventions can change the trajectory of a child or young person's thinking and being. Love, support, our views and needs being respected, a sense of control and say in our own life when growing up is so important to how we navigate the future stresses of adulthood. The impact of covid, lockdowns, the rise and effects of social media, and general overstimulation are all adding to the stress our youngsters are having to deal with. Time in nature, coping skills, connection, socialising, from a base of a loving, supportive and consistent home that allows youngsters to grow and flourish, and be themselves as they discover what that actually is, I believe will have the greatest positive impact on a child's long term health and life fulfilment. Please support the power of sports, movement, community, the connection to nature and others through our breath-taking countryside and outdoor activities. And be purposeful in the activities, words and moments that matter with your little people.
