The industrial sector needs to ditch fossil fuels for heat. How? Heat pumps offer a promising low-carbon solution by efficiently converting available heat sources (like waste heat, ground, air, or water) into usable heat for various industrial needs. Exciting advancements in heat pump technology are making this a more viable option for your decarbonization journey. Reflections from #GreenBiz25: The Power of Moving Together A huge thank you to the #GreenBiz team and Margaret Morales for the invitation to speak and to my incredible co-panelists Giulia Carbone, Chelsey Evans and Magnus Drewelies for joining me on stage. The energy, collaboration, and urgency at the event were inspiring, and I left with several key takeaways: 1️⃣ The Scale of the Challenge – Tom Chi’s powerful keynote speech called out the fact that the journey to stabilize our climate and restore nature is a 100+ year effort. Success requires we maintain our motivation and commitment across generations—our children’s children’s children will still be feeling the impacts of the decisions we make today. In this context, today’s politics are just a blip. We must tap into our deepest emotions to carry our society through this journey - #grief, #love, #rage, #compassion. (see the video link for more) 2️⃣ Opportunities & Risks – Owen Hewlett underscored that businesses speak the language of opportunities and risks, and there are still so many levers to pull. Carbon markets, nature-based solutions, and corporate climate action continue to evolve, with new innovation at the frontier. We need to keep pushing towards articulating our sustainability agenda in the language the moves decisions makers. 3️⃣ The Power of Standards – 2025 is set to bring major updates across Science Based Targets initiative, Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG Protocol), VCMI, ISO - International Organization for Standardization, and beyond. While uncertainty may arise in the short term, this wave of standardization signals a global shift toward accountability and best practices. These frameworks will shape the next era of climate action and (hopefully) will better clarify the eligibility of powerful new levers for decarbonization. 4️⃣ Supply Chains & Scope 3 – Encouraging to see more focus on Scope 3 decarbonization and financing solutions. Shout-out to Microsoft, DP World, AUDI AG, Danone, Allbirds, Diageo, Toyota Motor Corporation, The Chemours Company, Freeport-McMoRan, and others demonstrating how cross-value chain collaboration unlocks new opportunities—from low-carbon auto parts to regenerative agriculture. A favorite quote: “You do not have a supply chain. You are part of a supply chain.” Betty C. 💡 Final thought: The optimism and collaboration at #GreenBiz24 were energizing. We celebrated progress. We reminded each other that this is a marathon, not a sprint. And yet—we must move faster. We cannot relent. We are not doing enough. The stakes are too high. To everyone working on these challenges: Let’s keep pushing. Let’s demand more. Future generations depend on it. #Sustainability #ClimateAction #Decarbonization #CorporateSustainability #SupplyChain #CarbonMarkets #Standards #GreenBiz https://lnkd.in/gKBwz5pn

Exciting times ahead as we witness the food and beverage industry taking bold steps to decarbonize its operations. A recent article by Canary Media Inc. highlights how a manufacturer is exploring innovative solutions to reduce its reliance on gas for manufacturing processes. This is a significant move, considering the high heat requirements typically powered by gas in this industry. In the article, Jason Bell, Managing Director at ENGIE Impact, sheds light on the challenges and opportunities in decarbonizing manufacturing. His perspective underscores the importance of transitioning to cleaner energy sources and the role of early adopters in driving this change. While electrification presents unique challenges, it offers a powerful lever for manufacturers to significantly reduce their environmental footprint. Honored to be supporting waste diversion efforts at Super Bowl LIX with the ENGIE Impact team! Our goal is to minimize the amount of waste that ends up in landfills after this week’s events. We’ve spent the last couple of days supporting the Super Bowl Experience at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. The Convention Center sets an incredible example for sustainable events with their detailed back of house recycling operations. Now on to the big game! 🏈
