Expanded polypropylene (EPP) is widely used in automotive bumper cores where part weight reductions of up to 70% can be achieved without compromising on safety performance. Often the first point of contact in a collision, front and rear bumper cores benefit from the excellent shock absorption properties of EPP assisting with the cushioning of crash impacts. The replacement of heavier car components with lightweight EPP, to achieve significant part weight reductions of up to 70%, also provides substantial cost and energy savings when multiplied across annual vehicle numbers. EPP is a sustainable material consisting of 96% air and is recyclable. #SustainableInnovation #Automotive #ExpandedPolypropylene

Congratulations to Flt Sgt Jack Edwards of the 1756 Broxburn Squadron!      Jack is the first-ever recipient of the Engineered Foam Products 'Moral Courage Award', a truly fitting award for his incredible bravery. Everyone at EFP is in awe of Jack’s courageous act, entering a burning home to raise the alarm and try to assist his elderly neighbour. While the outcome was heart-breaking, Jack’s selflessness and quick thinking speak volumes of his character.     Jack’s achievements don’t stop there! He recently sat a board interview for promotion and successfully achieved the rank of Cadet Warrant Officer—the highest rank you can attain as a cadet.      At EFP, we believe in supporting our community and encouraging acts of courage, integrity, and leadership which is why we supported the Air Cadets WW1 Battlefield Tour in last year. Jack’s story reminds us all of the importance of these values, and we are happy in the knowledge that this trophy, (a beautifully decorated, used artillery shell from WW1) will continue to recognise these values of other cadets in the years to come.     Well done, Jack! And best of luck in you ambition becoming an Officer in 2025!     #MoralCourage #EFPTrophy #Leadership #Bravery

Celebrating a Champion in the Making! We are very proud to share some exciting news! Joshua O'Brien (son of Jim O'Brien, our talented Tooling Engineer) is representing Team GB at the Paris Paralympics this weekend in the PR3 Mixed Coxed Four (PR3 Mix4+). 🚣♂️🏅 Josh is no stranger to challenges - whether it was bungee jumping at 17 or overcoming a severe football injury, he has always faced adversity head-on. After discovering rowing at the University of Birmingham, it quickly became his passion, and he hasn't looked back since. We're all incredibly inspired by his story and couldn't be more thrilled to cheer him on as he represents the UK on the world stage. Everyone at EFP is behind you, Go Josh Go! #TeamGB #Paralympics #EFPFamily

In support of a local school initiative to provide children with an insight into working life, Engineered Foam Products recently welcomed Charlie Thompson, son of Phil Thompson (Business Excellence Manager) to our head office in Northampton. Charlie, who attends Campion Secondary School, spent a day at EFP as part of the ‘Take Your Child to Work Day’ school initiative to understand what a working day entails to help him decide which school subjects to pursue. During the day, Charlie was given a cross-functional overview of the daily business operations, spending time with various teams including Health and Safety, Sales and Marketing, Design, Administration, and Finance. Charlie commented, "Thanks to all for your help and kindness today. I’ve never been to any workplace before, so it was all very interesting and exciting for me. It beats being at school, that’s for sure!" It was fantastic to welcome Charlie to the business for a day, and we wish him all the best for his subject selections in the new school year. #WorkExperience #Education #OurPeople

Expanded polystyrene (EPS) bee hives help increase honey yield by a staggering 30% by reducing the work required for bees to manage the hive temperature. EPS insulates bee hives to keep bees warm during winter to protect against heavy frosts and sub-zero temperatures. It also keeps them cool in the summer when overheating can become an issue for effective brood rearing. EPS hives are also extremely durable which means they won’t rot and there’s virtually no maintenance compared to traditional hive materials. #Bees #EPS #SustainableInnovation

Congratulations to Andrew Foster on 20 years’ service at EFP Spennymoor. Andrew (pictured right with Carl Beasley, Warehouse and Logistics Manager left) is an integral part of the Warehouse team having started with us back in May 2004. Andrew commented, "20 years has gone pretty fast! I bounced around at the start of my time with the business, initially working a role in production as a Packers Inspector, then into the QA Team as a Quality Technician. I found my true home in the Warehouse around 15 years ago and never looked back. Moving from Warehouse Operative and then up to Chargehand on the night shift in 2018. People have come and gone but I have made some good friendships over my time, I really enjoy my job and I’m happy here." #EmployeeAppreciation #OurPeople #TeamEFP
