On the eve of the 2024 Paralympics in Paris, everyone at England Athletics would like to wish the athletes competing for ParalympicsGB the very best of success and enjoyment at what promises to be another wonderful global exhibition of talent, determination, excitement, and achievement. England Athletics, through its Paralympic talent programme led by Matthew Kendrick, is hugely proud of the role that we are fortunate to play, alongside our partners at UK Athletics, Sport England, SportsAid and TASS (Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme) in identifying and developing athletic talent that hopefully one day will fulfil those dreams of being able to compete on the global stage watched by millions. The athletics team is packed with world class talent including Personal Best Foundation trustee Ali Smith and EA Athlete Panel member Zac Shaw who will be competing as part of a team that includes legends of the sport such as David Weir and our sustainability champion Hannah Cockroft OBE, PLY, DL – competing in what is anticipated to be the most the sustainable Olympic and Paralympic games. Good luck to all the coaching and support staff whose tireless commitment and dedication is central to this team effort in what is a truly inclusive and diverse sport, an aspect that we are immensely proud of at England Athletics. Take a look at our guide to understanding the Para-Athletics classes which explains everything you need to know to follow the progress of our athletes during the Games https://lnkd.in/evBfgjK6 #athletics #paralympics #talent

Great to see our CEO Chris Jones sharing his thoughts on our work championing diversity across our sport, as well as collaborating with others across the sector. Looking forward to further posts over the coming months.
I don’t often post on LinkedIn, but I felt honoured to be a panel speaker yesterday at the annual Sporting Equals, State of the Sector Race Equality event, joining colleagues from across the sector to discuss, learn and work collaboratively at all levels to help make sport an even more inclusive and diverse space for all, whatever background, ability, or aspiration. From an England Athletics perspective, we have been working hard to increase the profile of role models across coaches, athletes and officials, as well as ensuring diversity in our governance and decision making. This is reflected in an A grade for the second year in a row in our for Board diversity in the annual Race Representation Index which analyses gender and ethnic diversity across senior positions in NGBs. Going forwards over the next few months I have taken the plunge and will be posting more frequently on LinkedIn, highlighting some of key opportunities and achievements both across the sport of athletics and the sports sector more broadly. #diversity #leadership #rri2023 #race #inclusion #ree2024

Ed Hunt, our Facilities and Planning Manager celebrates the unsung heroes providing cleaning, maintenance and repairs of athletics tracks in 2023 #athletics #facilities #repairs #trackandfield
Major track installs and refurbs are always exciting. But equally important (if not more important), is a commitment to regular maintenance and remedial work - ensuring that UK Athletics #TrackMark standards are both achieved and maintained. Venue operators have definitely stepped up in 2023, and our thanks go out to them and also to members of SAPCA The Sports and Play Construction Association , who have been responsible for a high number of track repairs, full surface cleans and line re-marks.
