💜 Does low testosterone really matter? Listen to find out. Testosterone is an important hormone. In men, it is produced by the testicles. It is involved in muscle and bone development, hair growth, and development of the sex organs such as the penis and prostate. It also contributes to a man’s sense of overall well-being and sexual function. Testosterone is required for sperm production as well. 👩⚕️ How do you test for low testosterone and what problems does it cause? Low testosterone can lead to problems with erections, low sex drive, mood changes and problems with sperm health and sperm counts. Testosterone can be measured by a simple blood test and are usually measured in the morning, since that is when levels are highest in men. 👩⚕️ Can low testosterone lead to infertility? Low testosterone does not directly cause infertility. Sperm production is stimulated by hormones other than testosterone. Testosterone is required for sperm production, but the level in the testes where sperm is produced is many times higher than in the blood. Even men with low or borderline testosterone levels may have sufficient testosterone levels for sperm production, but it may contribute to lower counts or less healthy sperm. 👉 It is important to tests testosterone but also do a sperm analysis. At Enhanced Fertility, you can do both from the comfort of your own home. #testosterone #sperm #spermcount #spermanalysis #fertilitytest

💜 The age at which women are having their first child has been increasing since 1972. As fertility naturally declines with age, fertility treatment has been helping some of these women get pregnant. Therefore pregnancy over 40 is becoming more common. 💜 EFP has collaborated with Dr Elena Santiago Romero from Vida Fertility Institute to discuss pregnancy over 40 aided by IVF and the potential risks along this fertility journey. Have a listen…. 🎧 #ivf #ttc #infertility #fertility #reproductivemedicine #pregnancy

💜 Tests that identify cause of miscarriage Miscarriage, also known as spontaneous abortion, is defined as early pregnancy loss. 💜 1 in 4 pregnancies ends in miscarriage. In the UK, about 1 in 100 women experience recurrent miscarriage. The factors that can indicate miscarriage include foetal, placental and maternal considerations. However, there are fertility tests that can identify these and therefore allow a better management of the fertility journey. 👇 These tests include: 1. Paternal tests 2. Maternal Blood tests 3. Uterine Lining tests 4. Embryo factors 👉 Slide through to find out about each test in more detail #pregnancyloss #ttc #infertility #fertility #reproductivemedicine

💜 Did you know there are several types of oestrogen? Which one should you test if you are trying to conceive? Oestrogen is a female hormone that is secreted mainly by the ovaries and in small quantities by the adrenal glands. 👩⚕️Estrone (E1): is the major oestrogen produced after the menopause. It is derived from chemicals released from the adrenal gland and is also made in adipose tissue (fat). 👩⚕️Estradiol (E2): is the most active oestrogen, mainly produced in the ovary in women and therefore falls at the menopause. Normal levels of estradiol are important for ovulation, conception, and pregnancy, in addition to promoting healthy bone structure and regulating cholesterol levels in females. This is the one you need to test if you are trying to conceive. 👩⚕️ Estriol (E3): is the major oestrogen in pregnancy, with relatively large amounts produced in the placenta. Estriol levels start to rise in the eighth week of pregnancy and continue to rise until shortly before delivery. You can test oestrogen with a simple at-home test. ✅ Order online ✅ Collect the sample at home and ship back to the lab ✅ Receive the results in 48 hours #IVF #fertility #inferility #ttc #oestrogen #estrogen #fertilitytest #hormonetest #enhancedfertility

💜 Let's talk about Luteinizing hormone (LH) 💡 LH is produced by the pituitary gland in the brain. A peak of LH is responsible for the final stage of egg maturation and ovulation. ✅ If you measure both FSH and LH at the beginning of your cycle you should see about the same numerical value, meaning your LH to FSH ratio should be near. This indicates a healthy balance between the two. ⚠️ However, studies show that an LH to FSH ratio of 2 or 3 — meaning LH levels are higher than FSH levels when measured on the same day — may be indicative of polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). This is because many women with PCOS experience elevated LH levels throughout their cycle, even when LH should be low. As a result of raised LH/FSH ratio, ovulation does not occur in polycystic ovary disease patients. ⚠️ On the other hand, an LH to FSH ratio of less than 0.5 — meaning FSH higher than LH levels when measured on the same day — may be a sign of diminished ovarian reserve. This could signal that your ovaries are in need of more stimulation and require more FSH. Measuring LH and FSH is important if you are struggling to conceive or considering fertility treatment. With our at-home test kits, you can easily prick a finger and collect a few drops of blood, getting your results in 48 hours. #fertility #infertility #ttc #ivf #lh #fsh #hormones #fertilitytest #EnhancedFertility
