As Fairtrade Fortnight comes to an end, we are proud to highlight our collaboration with the Co-op, a leader in Fairtrade initiatives. Pioneers in the movement, they were the first to incorporate Fairtrade cocoa, sugar, and even launch a Fairtrade wine range! Understanding the importance of effectively conveying their Fairtrade mission, we reimagined their product packaging to not only showcase the Fairtrade logo but also share the compelling stories behind each product. With a fresh colour palette and striking designs, we aimed to inspire consumers to recognise the positive impact of their purchases. We’re proud to be featured in The Grocer for our latest innovation in the yoghurt space! After being challenged by The Grocer to create packaging fit for the future, we tackled convenience, sustainability, and nutrition with a fresh concept that reimagines yoghurt for children. Taking cues from lunchtime salad bowls, our Cal brand “makes yoghurt nutritious, delicious, and fun, while supporting sustainability,” says Nathan Ball, Creative Director. We prioritised sustainability by using biodegradable plastics and single material packaging for easier recycling. Plus, we’re exploring an innovative vending machine for grab-and-go convenience... Using Illustration to Convey Product Provenance… In today's marketplace, where consumers are increasingly seeking authenticity, the narrative around product provenance is more important than ever. One of the most visually engaging ways to tell that origin story? Illustration. We’ve seen how illustration can act as a powerful storytelling tool, weaving together a product’s journey, culture, and essence. Whether it’s a wine label capturing the topography of a vineyard or coffee packaging reflecting the uniqueness of its single origin, illustration allows products to communicate their provenance in a meaningful way. Interested in learning more about how illustration can add authenticity and uniqueness to your product's packaging? Celebrating International Coconut Day with a Taste of Tradition As food photographers, capturing the essence of a dish goes beyond just clicking a picture—it’s about telling a story. For our latest shoot, we decided to embrace a more traditional and tropical vibe, featuring the beloved Thai Mango Sticky Rice. Not only is this dessert a personal favourite of our photographer, but it’s also a rare find here in Manchester, making it all the more unique. Our goal was to transport viewers to a late afternoon street market, where someone has taken a moment to cool down and savour their dessert in a shaded spot. We crafted this scene indoors with minimal props, relying on thoughtful lighting and a tight frame to create that authentic market atmosphere. This is just one example of how we can bring your food to life, whether it’s in a warm, tropical setting or something completely unexpected—like the icy coconut ice cream we showcased earlier today on Instagram. Let’s make your dishes unforgettable with photography that tells a story! #foodphotography #internationalcoconutday #thaifood #manchester #streetfood #foodstyling #photography #culinaryart #ukfood #manchesterfood #foodmarketing #creativephotography #foodphotographer #fmcg #retail #cpg

🌈True Allyship VS. Rainbow Washing: The Role of Design 🌈 At Equator, we know that design is more than just visuals—it’s a powerful tool to communicate a brand’s true values. With Pride-themed packaging everywhere, it’s vital to distinguish between genuine support and rainbow washing. Why does it matter? Superficial gestures can mislead and harm a brand’s reputation. In our latest blog, we explore how brands can avoid rainbow washing and commit to real, year-round support for the LGBTQ+ community. In June 2022, Health Canada | Santé Canada announced a crucial update to the Food and Drug Regulations: the introduction of Front-of-Pack (FOP) nutrition labelling. The food industry has until January 1, 2026, to comply with this regulation. 🤔 Curious about what this means for your product packaging? At Equator, we excel in creating packaging designs that not only meet regulatory requirements but also engage and attract your audience.
