SIP and SAYE reform   We’ve been eagerly awaiting a response to the non-discretionary tax-advantaged share schemes call for evidence published last year under the Sunak Conservative government.   A year on, and with no response, ProShare has written to the new Chancellor, Rachel Reeves asking for share plan reforms to modernise SIP and SAYE plans.   We agree that reform will be beneficial, helping with financial resilience for employees, a more engaged workforce and increased productivity. Hence, EQ supported this letter.   As background, the aim of the call for evidence was to gather information about the current usage of SIP and SAYE and whether they’re effective in achieving their stated policy objectives.   EQ consulted widely with clients and the overriding view was that although the plans are effective, change and improvement was needed. We, therefore, spent some time considering what changes might improve or simplify them, or provide additional flexibility on how they are run. We submitted our response to the call for evidence last year with a range of recommendations including:   SIP 💠 Reducing the tax-free period. 💠 Changing the treatment of reinvested SIP dividend income for non-qualified leavers, with no tax to pay on dividend income reinvested in the Plan, even if the resulting Dividend Shares are held for less than three years. 💠 Removing the 10% salary requirement for Partnership contributions.                                 SAYE 💠 Allowing additional flexibility to allow companies to choose whether to make Company Contributions, use auto enrolment, or use option price ‘look-back’.        💠 Extending qualified leaver provisions. 💠 Changing the basis for Capital Gains Tax treatment when exercising an option.   ProShare’s letter can be found here.

🌟 Huge midweek shoutout to both our ProSearch and Customer Resolutions teams for their amazing fundraising efforts! 🌟 Our ProSearch team took on a 6-mile charity walk across the beautiful Seven Sisters cliffs in the south of England, raising funds for Mind charity 🏞️👟. Meanwhile, our Customer Resolutions team held a delicious charity buffet at our Reading office to support The Rockinghorse Children’s Charity. 🍽️🎉. Together, these two separate events raised an incredible £500! A big well done to both teams for your dedication and generosity! 💙👏
