We'd never miss a chance to link earth science to a calendar event, so here's a look at some spooky minerals and fossils. #Halloween #EarthScience #Geology
About us
The expectations around ESG and emissions have changed significantly in the last 3 years and continue to evolve rapidly. Many companies are struggling with: • Increasing pressures on executive teams & boards from investors, regulators & stakeholders to demonstrate a credible action plan; • Limited time, resources & expertise to thoroughly understand the challenges and manage the full impact of complex operations; • Building a strong culture to drive impactful change while retaining and engaging employees. Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) issues affect every single part of a business and managing these risks and opportunities is one of the most complex and challenging aspects for any organisation today. Imagine having a clear roadmap for ESG success and emissions reduction, tailored to your unique needs. sustain:able provides expert support from a team with a background in geoscience and engineering, including decades of experience working in the global energy and extractives industries. We support companies in the oil & gas, low carbon energy and mining industries to reduce their negative impacts, optimise their operations, and honestly and transparently communicate their progress. We frame our approach around three key elements: 1) Risk – materiality assessment, risk analysis and mitigation, regulatory and framework reporting; 2) Emissions – emissions accounting for Scope 1, 2 and 3, forecasting and scenario analysis, emissions and impact reduction initiatives; 3) Engagement – engagement and education of stakeholders, stakeholder relationships, building effective company culture. Don't get left behind, leaving your company exposed to unmitigated ESG and emissions risks. Cut the sustainability overwhelm and forge a confident path forward: contact us today to arrange a conversation with one of our directors about your challenges, and to explore solutions.

Climate change has resulted in weather and climate extremes around the globe, and certain occupations frequently expose workers to hazards. Take a look at the six key impacts of climate change on occupational health and safety, and which groups are most at risk. Want more info? A technology start-up company working in the mining sector needed to understand the key ESG issues of the critical mineral supply chain. This was vital in enabling them to source the raw materials to complete their process, and then to sell to their end client. The rise of climate litigation in 2024 highlights a growing trend in holding governments and corporations accountable for their environmental impact. Our latest article takes a look at the surge in cases against "climate-washing" and the use of human rights claims to challenge insufficient climate actions, how lawsuits are shaping corporate governance and influencing climate policy, and the growing legal risks and implications for industries. https://lnkd.in/eW_wBzqC #Climate #Sustainability #ESG

All energy sources have negative effects, but they differ enormously in size. So, what are the safest, and conversely the deadliest, energy sources? https://lnkd.in/eY_A2YJh #Energy #GreenhouseGases #Emissions

Methane is a powerful greenhouse gas, and is the second-largest contributor to climate warming after carbon dioxide. Methane comes from both natural sources and human activities: an estimated 60% of today’s methane emissions are the result of human activities. Take a look at this list of sources, some of which might be surprising! #Emissions #ClimateChange #GreenhouseGases

Our newest team member Nicola Morgan attended APOGCE 2024 last week in Perth! The event was packed with valuable insights, with sessions on decarbonisation, emissions management and collaborative strategies for sustainable decommissioning being key highlights. It was a wonderful opportunity to learn from industry experts and exchange ideas on building a more sustainable future for energy. Looking forward to applying these insights in meaningful ways! #APOGCE2024 #OilandGas #EnergyConference #PerthEvents Society of Petroleum Engineers International

The Birds, Not Mosquitoes project is a collaborative effort to save endangered Hawaiian honeycreepers from extinction. Invasive mosquitoes are spreading avian malaria, threatening native bird populations. But conservationists are fighting back, using the innovative Incompatible Insect Technique to introduce natural bacteria that act as mosquito "birth control." The method aims to suppress mosquito populations, protect vulnerable species, and restore Hawaii's biodiversity. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/e7Z8Junm #Biodiversity #Conservation #Sustainability

Gas produced by the UK releases less carbon dioxide (CO2) into the air than most other sources of gas it imports from other countries. When the UK imports gas from abroad, especially from ships carrying liquefied natural gas (LNG), it is much worse for the environment: gas from LNG produces almost four times more CO2 than UK domestic gas. However, if the UK imports gas from Norway through pipelines, the impact is less. See the full factsheet: https://lnkd.in/efvNWMuE #Emissions #CO2 #Oil&Gas
