Founded in 1970, ECPR is the leading European academic association with a mission to advance political science. We bring scholars together across our global network to develop research and grow the discipline. Our members are universities, and the communities within them, engaged in the research and teaching of social sciences. Through our events, publications and research groups, we foster scholarly collaboration across borders. We support academics at every stage of their career, providing training, research opportunities and professional development. 🧭EU Enlargement debates for the European Consortium for Political Research TheLOOP continue with Jelena Dzankic from Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies focusing on *how* enlargement becomes a success. Here's to the journey, not just the destination! ⬇️
My two cents on #EU #enlargement 🇪🇺 Focusing on enhancing the transformative potential of the #process is crucial - especially for #membership as the final #outcome Key takeaways: - broken promises and unmet expectations come at a high price - accelerated tempo of enlargement decision-making has ‘revived’ the accession discussions; but is it enough for membership to happen? - a transformative process, not merely the fact of membership is what defines meaningful integration Thank you Veronica Anghel for initiating this conversation https://lnkd.in/dCESkkFe
🆕 from our blogsite, The Loop 🔲 The sudden 💥 collapse of the Assad regime could result in Syrian refugees being pressured into returning. But Maissam Nimer Nimer and Susan Beth Rottmann of Özyeğin University say refugee returns must be voluntary, dignified, and sustainable – not driven by political agendas. Given Syria's shattered infrastructure, instability, and limited opportunities, 'safety' means more than simply the absence of violence. 📖 Read the article here 👉 https://bit.ly/3BWBThX #Syria #MigrationPolitics

Grateful for the Opportunity to Contribute to the 12th Biennial Conference of the European Consortium for Political Research SGEU on the European Union. I had the privilege of working at and attending the 12th Biennial Conference of the ECPR Standing Group on the European Union (SGEU), held in Lisbon. This event brought together an incredible diversity of research perspectives on European Union studies, spanning fields such as political science, history, sociology, law and economics. The experience allowed me to deepen my understanding of the EU at political, financial, and diplomatic levels while also playing an active role in ensuring the success of the event. My responsibilities included managing logistics, ensuring rooms were fully operational, panels were properly set up, and participants were guided seamlessly throughout the conference. A heartfelt thank you to Professor Alice Cunha and the IPRI/NOVA - Instituto Português de Relações Internacionais for their trust and support. It was an inspiring experience to contribute to an event that fosters dialogue and innovation on some of the most pressing questions of European integration. #ECPR #EUConference #EuropeanUnion #Research
