We welcome the Government’s ambition to kick start economic growth and we believe that the business events industry can help. Last year, our industry contributed £10.9bn to the UK economy, bringing businesses and visitors from around the world. However, today’s announcement of an increase in tax for small and medium sized businesses will be detrimental to growth prospects. Employment costs for our members are soaring and the increase in employers’ national insurance contributions will clearly affect jobs, wages and prices within the industry. We believe that the Government should commit to providing incentives to boost the potential of our sector and encourage entrepreneurship. Combined with reducing trade frictions across the EU, this would supercharge the business events industry and enable us to deliver real economic growth. #governmentaffairs #businessevents #exhibitions https://lnkd.in/eEV3NXJ3 AEV Association of Event Venues Ltd AEO Association of Event Organisers ESSA Rachel Parker Andrew Harrison Chris Skeith OBE

Many congratulations to Dame Caroline Dinenage MP DBE on her re-election as Chair of the Culture, Media and Sport Committee. It was a pleasure to meet with Caroline in Parliament last year to introduce her to the business events sector and discuss the importance of increasing advocacy for our industry, reducing trade friction and incentivising growth. We are grateful for her support of our aims and look forward to continuing our work together during this Parliamentary term. #businessevents

It's been great to stand for our members in our representation to the Treasury this week, ahead of the Budget this Autumn. We used the opportunity to call for the creation of a business events growth programme to help create incentives to boost the sector. Such a programme would stimulate innovation, boost employment and activate regional economic development. We’ll also continue advocating for a programme that would deliver focused engagement from Government and an incentive for growth which alongside reducing trade frictions enable us to ensure the UK to become the ‘world's meeting place’, in line with our manifesto asks. #businessevents #eventprofs

It was a really positive step to be invited to attend the first formal event for the new Secretary of State, Lisa Nandy, at the Science and Industry Museum in Manchester last week. The speech was full of connections to events and we are being met with positive reception from the new Government. There is still more to be done to inform and educate: * our industry should be front and centre in unlocking our country's potential; * we are a catalyst for growth and learning It is a positive start. We will continue driving awareness and value of the business events industry. #eventsindustryalliance #eventprofs #representingbusinessevents https://lnkd.in/ek9RDN2p Rachel Parker Chris Skeith OBE Andrew Harrison AEV Association of Event Venues Ltd AEO Association of Event Organisers ESSA Event Industry News Meetings & Incentives Worldwide, Inc. We welcome the new Prime Minister and his new government and look forward to working closely together. Over the last two years the EIA has been engaging with the Labour party and the shadow DCMS team, including attending a roundtable in Edinburgh earlier this year hosted by Sir Chris Bryant. We firmly believe that the business events industry will continue to play a crucial role in driving international trade and supporting the new government’s growth agenda. We stand ready to facilitate significant trade across the UK and around the world and will continue working to reduce trade friction and ensure greater access to markets for the industry. #eventsindustryalliance #eventprofs #representingbusinessevents https://lnkd.in/ey339Sds Exhibition News Rachel Parker Chris Skeith OBE Andrew Harrison AEO Association of Event Organisers AEV Association of Event Venues Ltd ESSA Event Industry News Meetings & Incentives Worldwide, Inc.
