Dave and Andy enjoyed coaching care leavers to help them gain some DIY skills with a session at the Core, Blackpool.🔨 The Core aims to provide young people with a comfortable place to access support, relax and have a warm cooked meal.🍴 Sara McCartan, Head of Adolescent Services at Blackpool Council, asked if we could run some training that would teach care leavers basic DIY skills, that would help them when moving into independent living. 🏡 Andy and Dave gave demonstrations and taught the young people how to use a drill, select the correct drill bit, plugs and screws as well as putting up a shelf and blinds safely. Dave and Andy also kindly offered to put up a dart board for the centre. 🎯 Brendan Bunting and the staff at the Core were great to work with, and it was extremely rewarding to work with the young people and help them on their journey to independent living. We are proud to support initiatives like this in Blackpool and across the Fylde Coast! 🙌 #Blackpool #Community #Skills

We’re delighted to welcome Paige and Tom to the Evolution family today as our two new apprentices. 👷♂️⭐ Paige Thomas and Tom Valentine started their first day with us today as an apprentice Plasterer and Joiner respectively. It’s great to have them on board with us working on projects on sites across Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre. Thanks to Blackpool and The Fylde College’s Business Engagement Executive Charlotte Eastwood for setting up a workshop event at the college’s Bispham campus earlier this year when we saw first-hand the impressive skills of the students. 🙌 It was as a direct result of that event that we were able to offer Paige and Tom, who had just completed their Level 2 qualifications at the college, apprentice opportunities to work with us. On their first day today, Paige said: “It feels good to be here at Evolution. I am looking forward to learning new things and building my confidence. “My dad is a builder and I learned from him from a young age. I didn’t want to sit at a desk. I am very hands-on. So this is a great opportunity for me.” 🌟 Tom said: “I am looking forward to working with the Evolution team and learning from people who have had more experience than me. “My dad was a joiner and his dad was a joiner as well. So I have been interested in joinery ever since I was very young.” 🌠 Our Managing Director, JJ Fitzgerald said: “When Ben Reader and I went to Blackpool and The Fylde College’s workshop we were blown away by the skills of all the students. “It was great to be able to see their impressive construction skills first-hand, and we are really grateful to Charlotte and the college for having the foresight to set up the showcase event and make it happen. “We were delighted to offer immediate apprenticeship opportunities to Paige and Tom. Two young people have now gained career opportunities thanks to this innovative approach.” Ben said: “The type of engagement opportunity the college ran really helps employers link up with young people in our community who are learning their trade and who will be the workforce of tomorrow across Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre. Thanks to Charlotte and the college for making this happen and a big welcome to Evolution to Paige and Tom as they set out on their careers today.” 👏✨ #apprenticeships #nextgeneration #construction #employment #community #evolution

We were delighted to meet students at Blackpool and The Fylde College recently and to see their impressive construction skills first-hand. Charlotte Eastwood, Business Engagement Executive at the college, arranged for our MD JJ Fitzgerald and Contracts Manager Ben Reader to interview students and assess their work on practical tasks. Four students who had just completed their first year in Level 2 Joinery/Plastering took part and showcased their skills in skimming and skirting during an afternoon session held in a workshop at the college’s Bispham Campus. The visit was aimed at potentially recruiting learners for future apprenticeship opportunities at Evolution. Ben said: “It was great to see the skill level of the students. Thanks to all those who took part and to Charlotte and the team at the college for organising the session. “These type of engagement opportunities really help employers link up with young people in our community who are learning their trade and will be the workforce of tomorrow across Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre. We are hoping it will lead to Evolution being able to offer apprentice opportunities in the near future.” Charlotte said: “This was an amazing opportunity for our learners to showcase their practical skills and to hear about real work experiences and gain industry insight. We look forward to working with Evolution.” Dionne Mccann Adam Beckwith #Community #Construction #Skills #NextGeneration #Blackpool #Fylde #Wyre

Our team members were delighted to support a recent community clean-up in Blackpool organised by My Blackpool Home. JJ, Dean, Dave, Dan and Ben all took part in the clean-up at Osborne Road, Bond Street and Withnell Road - and Jess held the fort back at our Squires Gate HQ base to allow so many of our team to get involved. JJ said: “It was really rewarding to get hands-on and clean up the area and see the transformation we could make in such a short period of time. “In our day jobs in the construction industry all our team are involved in providing people with better homes across Blackpool and several other communities across the north of England. “It was very satisfying to support My Blackpool Home’s initiative and, through volunteering, extend that help to improve the areas around people’s homes by cleaning up the streets. “It’s about having pride in the community where we all live and work and doing our bit to make our environment the best it can possibly be for everyone who lives here. “It’s part of what being a responsible local business is about - making sure we give back to our communities. “At Evolution making a positive difference in our communities is something we have passionately believed in ever since we first set out 12 years ago. “Getting involved in the clean-up was also a lot of fun, good for team spirit, and we all found it hugely rewarding to make such a difference. “Thanks to all the team at My Blackpool Home, everyone who got involved, and the area’s residents, for helping to make this happen.” #Community #CleanUp #Business #PositiveDifference
