We've just experienced our first named storm of the season. Are they starting earlier every year? Is the UK weather getting harder to predict? Well, it can certainly feel that way! That's why we're continuing to monitor what's going on with energy markets across Europe and the rest of the world. So, what's the latest? 🌡 We've got temperatures on the downward trajectory again. 🍃 Wind generation is aligned with seasonal norms - even with the storm earlier this week! 🚢 LNG tanker supplies are still going strong. 🔥 And European storage remains healthy at over 90%. The market remains finely balanced with slight increases observed this week due to an undersupplied UK Gas system. And what does this mean for your business? It's more important than ever to have a smart energy strategy in place. At eyebright it's our job to track all the moving parts in the market, and advise you on the right contractual arrangements, so you can focus on running your business. #energy #smartenergy #energystrategy #eyebright

Is your business energy strategy delivering the results you need? There's more to managing business energy than choosing the right supplier and product. The key to successful energy management lies in accessing meaningful data insights. Getting into the granular detail gives you more control. How do you achieve this? Beyond purchasing strategies, you can also influence your energy strategy by implementing value-added measures. Taking control of your meter operator agreement (MOP) can help by: - Driving deeper data analysis - Reducing MOP service provision costs - Getting access to more accurate and reliable data And for businesses that use gas, a gas data logger offers: - More accurate and detailed reporting on gas usage - Ability to identify the exact time and conditions of gas safety incidents - Better tracking of site gas usage and the success of projects to change usage behaviours With this data fed seamlessly into eyebright's market-leading customer portal, you'll have complete visibility of your energy consumption, spend, and carbon reporting. Do you ever stop and think about where your energy comes from? We're so used to seamlessly watching the gas flames flicker and the lights switch on. But how does the source - and supply and demand factors - affect how much it costs to power our businesses? Electricity can be powered by hydro, wind, and solar among others. But if the wind doesn't blow and the sun doesn't shine, we rely more on gas to create it. Which is kind of a head spin! Gas is imported into the UK. It comes via pipelines. And Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) comes via cargo ships from places as far afield as the US, Qatar, Australia, Africa and even Russia. So, you can imagine the potential geopolitical influences. We've had a steady flow of LNG shipments recently. And favourable market conditions. But so many factors can impact this. Like everything else, LNG costs are subject to supply and demand factors. A big cold snap coupled with increased demand in other regions could suddenly have a big impact. That's why we keep a close eye on energy market trends, so you can focus on running your business. #energymarket #energytrends #businessenergy #energy #eyebright

Can you feel that winter chill? At eyebright we pay close attention to the temperature. And to your energy prices. This week, lower than average temperatures across Europe caused an increase in short term gas costs. And with wind speeds dropping that's likely to have an impact too. Storage levels are looking good, but are subject to the seasonal pressures. Moving forward, colder temperatures look likely to continue towards the weekend, staying below seasonal norms. It's a constantly moving market. That's why we we're here to keep on top of the unexpected, and help make your energy costs that bit more predictable. The last coal-fired power station is shutting down. Today, the UK closes the door on coal-powered electricity for good! Why is this a big deal? It means the UK is the first G7 nation to phase out coal from its energy mix. This is huge news in the fight against climate change. Since 1882, coal has been part of the UK’s industrial journey, but today, wind and solar power have taken the lead. In fact, wind and solar have helped to drive the decline in coal, making it possible for the UK to stop using it completely for electricity. While this is an incredible achievement, we can’t forget the communities impacted by the closure. It’s a big transition, but with growth in renewable energy sectors like wind, solar, and even hydrogen production, there are exciting new opportunities on the horizon. From 40% of electricity coming from coal in 2012, to less than 1% today, this is proof that rapid change is possible when we commit to greener energy. Here’s to a fully decarbonised power system by 2030! #energytransition #renewableenergy #greenfuture #coalphaseout #UK
